St. Patrick Day 2002

"Floss 'N Gloss" was busy again prior to the second annual FNG participation of the "St. Patrick Day Parade" in Muncie, IN. To anyone who was there, it started at Muncie Central High School parking lot and traveled numerous blocks while being flanked by hundreds of families showing support.
This years parade was on March 16th, 2002. I dont quite understand why its on the day before the actual holiday, but there was a better turnout than last year.
There was more to do this year. There was a greater total of vehicles that would be participating in the parade, more errunds needed ran, and routes needed to be decided on.
Last year there was representation of the club, but only through the President and a Vice President who were in Roy's Camaro(president). This year...the lineup was planned to include almost a dozen customized rides, but last minute drops cut the total to half that. Optimistically and realistically it was obvious to see a nice improvement on last years representation.
To give you an idea of what it takes to prepare and get it all ready for the parade...here's a timeline of what the President did on March 16th. He got off work from his graveyard shift at 6:30am. Then he went home and tried to get some rest for a couple hours. Then got up and took a shower. Afterwards, he still needed to get some last minute decorations and candy for the ride to look its best for the parade. After those errunds were ran, he drove across town to pick up Trey Knight who would be the in the camaro with Roy tossing out candy to the crowd. After the pick up, he drove back across town to Dave's apartment. Once there, he led the way to the Central High School parking lot...where we would begin the parade from. We were requested to be at that location by 10am. Then roy left and washed his car and then came back and placed the decorations on his vehicle, placed everyone in their proper places for the parade, and otherwise got the smaller details worked out before the parade started at 11am.
This was made easier by all of the participants being there ontime and putting decorations on thier own vehicles and everyone just being co-operative with each other to make everything go much smoother.
This years parade had six vehicles and a total of thirteen participants. Below is a list of the order the vehicles were in:
Roy Davis and Trey Knight were first in Roy's 1995 Camaro. They were tossing candy out to the crowd while playing music at 147 db's.
Second in the lineup was Dave and his friend. They were in Dave's customized S10. They tossed out candy and wished everyone a "Happy St. Patrick Day".
Adam Wright was scheduled to hold this slot. His S10 was being painted North Carolina Blue and was adding a roll pan and 15" Dayton wire rims, but missed the parade due to the customizations bleeding into the time needed before the parade.
So, Bobbi Parsons aka "Boo" was up next. Thats actually Adam's brother, so there was family representation in the parade. He was acompanied by Colin Reed. They tossed out candy and put on a show by reving up his big block 406 engine. Actually, it was luck that Boo was even in the parade. He was driving the day before the parade and another guy with road rage...busted out a window of the truck and assaulted Boo.
Chad Evan's allowed his cousin, Scott Crouse to drive his Blazer. Scott was joined by a female friend and they tossed out candy while bumping a system that some of you already know about. If you are into Soundoffs, DBDRAGRACING, or any kind of audio competitions...and participate in those in Indiana...you have probably seen and been beaten by the "Ground Pounder".
Next up was Nick Reed and a female friend who tossed out candy from Nick's 1999 Mustang. They waved and tossed candy to everyone they could.
And in the last spot was Will Said. His 2002 Dodge Neon R/T was only TWO months old, yet is already customized to a very high degree and the crowd took notice. He has the web site listed on his front bumper and there was numberous people in the crowd who wrote the web site down so they could find out more about the customized vehicles they saw in the parade and around town. Will was joined by his father and Billy(his two year old son) who tossed out candy and waved to the crowd.
Braging rights...."FNG" was AGAIN the only car club in representation at the parade.
"FNG" has grown considerably in one year and will be much larger in 2003. Keep an eye out for the us...you will be surprised in our progress.
A big THANK YOU goes to Ervin Davis and the Morningside Crime Watch who funded a great deal for the parade. Also, Roys family as well as everyone else who participated in, supported, and helped make the St. Patrick Day Parade what it was.....THANK YOU!
