The Mission of Sigma Delta Tau is to enrich the college experience of women of similar ideals, to build lasting friendships and to foster personal growth. Sigma Delta Tau shall encourage each member to reach her fullest potential by providing intellectual, philanthropic, leadership, and social opportunities within the framework of mutual respect and high ethical standards.
One aspect of Greek Life has been so thoroughly stereotyped in the past that parents are often concerned: alcohol use. One of the areas of education we hope our young women can carry through life is that of responsible alcohol use. Sigma Delta Tau's National alcohol policy states:"No alcoholic beverages may be stored or consumed on Sigma Delta Tau property, nor may chapter funds be used to purchase or contribute to the purchase of alcoholic beverages." Because we realize that education, not prohibition, will ultimately prepare our young women for responsible, intelligent decisions concerning alcohol use, we sponsor alcohol awareness programs on the national and local levels. We feel confident that any negative stereotypes will erode with the help of this education.

President of Sigma Delta Tau, Alpha Epsilon Chapter

The President of Sigma Delta Tau presides over all chapter meetings. She is always in close contact with the chapter's National Advisor and the National Office. The president represents the chapter at National Conventions and is the first contact of the Purdue Panhellenic Association (which is the governing board for all National Panhellenic Sororities). The president is always available to help any sister or new member at any time. Also, the president keeps the chapter informed on National and local news.
Joining Sigma Delta Tau will allow your daughter to meet a diverse group of women. Each sister has her own experiences and personality to bring to the chapter, therefore she will be able to meet individuals that she may not have had the opportunity to meet in your classes. Sigma Delta Tau has plenty of opportunities to develop her leadership abilities and become an active member of SDT. SDT is a wonderful support system for its sisters. Academics are why we are at Purdue, however SDT allows the sisters to take part in social activities. Whether it is participating in other sorority/fraternity philanthropies, SDT retreats, sisterhood activities (e.g. increasing sisterly bond)or dinners with other sororities/fraternities, each sister is given the opportunity to have extracurricular activities outside of the academic life of Purdue. Sigma Delta Tau promotes individualism among each sister. Each sister brings a unique quality to the chapter.
