The Michigan Connection
I worked from the late 80's 'til 1994 (off and
on) doing machinery and structural design
and drafting for Peacock Industries in Baldwin,
MI. I got the chance to follow the area racing
as a result. In '93 I followed SOD (they were
410's then) and in '94 I spent more time with
the United 360's. I also got down to Ohio and
Indiana quite a bit (Eldora, Winchester, IRP).
I met a lot of real neat people and had a very
good time there. The track I probably spent the
most time at was I-96 in Lake Odessa where I
watched the AllStars, USAC, IRA, and their
regular weekly shows. I enjoyed the Canadian
Vintage Coupes and the ISMA supermodifieds
at Kalamazoo. The USAC sprints put on a great
show at Berlin too.
