The roses let fall or they live no more the vines they let choke the thorns live for war, and you must fight them or the night will not stand the darkness will leave if you stay your hand Will the day come if silent you stay? Will the unseen leave for the day? Why don't you fight? Why do you play? The roses they scream the plants they all say "Welcome my light welcome my sun welcome all creatures our wishes have come." But not all wishes come with the day not all creatures heat in sun's ray for every morn with the first light of sun the creatures unseen bodies go numb their eyes roll back within there head their breath will stop soon they'll be dead "I told you to fight!" I say as I fall "the roses are weak the ferns aren't so tall!" We could have won the night could have stayed but now we all die because you all played Do the children of cheer hear your mortal cries as the sun and the roses watch while you die. I think this one deserves a little story with it. There's a story in Grimms Fairy Tales about the war between the shadows and the flowers. If the shadows win it would stay night forever, but if the flowers win the day would return once more. Unfortunately the shadows are to busy playing, dancing, and doing spritely things to organize themselves enough to fight. I simply adapted this favorite fairy tale of mine into a little poem. ![]()
