Chapter 2 - The Awakening

Professor Uehara Mikamiko sipped her cup of steaming black, sugarless coffee, She was valiantly trying to stay awake in the cold, isolated observatory where the only living organisms around besides her were the germs in the air. She had been stationed here for many, many months. So many months that she had already forgotten what her ex-boyfriend looked like. They had broken up precisely because of this job. He had found it unacceptable to have a girlfriend who was always away from home, on another of her stargazing excursions, as he had called it. Not that she missed him. He was such a Male Chauvinist Pig anyway, demanding that she act like a subservient servant whenever they went out, with her walking behind him (not with him, mind you).

A silent tear trickled down her cheek and she quickly wiped it away, anxiously glancing around to see if anyone had seen it. Of course there was no one. Shaking her head at her own foolishness, she got up to check if there were any unusual changes in the position of the stars, for she was required to do so every half an hour.
"Of course there wouldn't be any unusual changes....those people are just being plain paranoid!" she grumbled to herself.

Suddenly, an intense red light flashed on the computer and a deafening alarm sounded. This could only mean one thing.....Mikamiko dashed to the telescope to look for any sign of abnormal changes; and what she saw almost blinded her! In a nanosecond, five stars of unusual shape fell from the sky and crashed towards Earth faster than the speed of light, with blazing fires of blue, red, purple, silver and black trailing in their wake. As they came closer and closer to Earth, precious stones started to rain from the sky but evaporated before they touched the ground.

Mikamiko hastened to the computer to trace the spot where the stars had fallen. This could be the greatest discovery since life on Mars!! She thought to herself excitedly. And what luck! Two of the stars had fallen in a great field not far from the observatory!! She immediately set off for the spot, taking a video camera with her to record any exciting discoveries that might appear.....

Mikamiko rushed to the empty field where the stars were said to have fallen..... however, it was just that..... an empty field. There was no sign that anything had landed there...... this could not be true! She turned around wildly to see if the stars had fallen elsewhere, but it was as vacant as a ever. Finally, she collapsed to the ground, disappointed and depressed to have such high hopes and be let down again. She broke down uncontrollably, letting out the many months of pent up stress and frustration that she had been experiencing until then.....

"Are you alright?" a male voice suddenly sounded at her ear.

Astonished that there was someone there, Mikamiko looked up and saw the most beautiful man she had ever seen.

He had shoulder-length dark brown hair that was so soft that it would make many girls turn green with envy. His face and features screamed 'Greek God' at her. In fact, he looked just like the perfect Manga hero. His lips were sensitive and sensual at the same time, making her uncomfortably hot as he uttered words of concern with his magnetic voice. But what killed her the most were his eyes. They seem to suck her right in and lock her in their glance. She could see her own reflection in those pupils that seem to change from blue to green from time to time, mesmerizing her and holding her speechless and motionless
. " And not to mention his seeeexy body. I thought that this kind of body only exist in my imagination. Look at that chest of his.... what I wouldn't give to put my face against it! And those long, endless legs......... " Suddenly, her mind stopped fantasising about his long, endless legs, for she had realised just then that he did not have any clothes on.

She turned bright red and quickly turned away, stumbling in the process and was about to fall to the floor with a bump when 'Greek God' (her nickname for him) caught her just in time.
Realising that she was being held very close to him, to the point that she could realise her fantasy (of putting her face in his chest), she awkwardly pushed him away. Although she might fantasise, she was in essence a very innocent girl.

" Err, may I know what you are doing here, Mr..... 'Greek God'? This area is closely monitored by security and trespassing is prohibited..... you might be shot if you were caught without a pass! " she ventured gingerly.
" I do not know. One minute I was flying towards Earth, then before I know, I have already landed in this strange place...... " 'Greek God" scratched his head in puzzlement.
" Well, you're not allowed to stay here. I think you had better get some clothes on before you catch a cold. Then you can think of where to go." Mikamiko did not understand what he was saying at all, and tried to pass it off as momentarily madness.
Thereafter, 'Greek God' was led to the observatory to discuss his plans for tomorrow.

Unknown to both of them, they were being watched by another "person", who let out an evil laugh after they had entered the observatory...... for he was already scheming for his next plan to destroy Mariteus, or 'Greek God' as Mikamiko called him.

Across the world, there were reports of many beautiful people, both male and female alike appearing naked from nowhere out of a sudden. Some of them were taken in by kind folks, while others were sent to the police stations. However, all of them seemed to suffer from amnesia, for they could not remember who they were and from where. The only thing they could say was that they fell from the sky and landed on Earth, thus creating the myth that these people were either all angels or all mad.
