The Forest Glade
You continue to walk through the forest glade, Roline's
song dying in your ears. The sweet smell
of grass and flowers invades your nose; you drink the smell in, relishing
it and its refreshing qualities.
A flash of colour speeds by your
nose. A giggle floats to your ears. You look around
and see the two pixies chuckling to themselves. Raising an eyebrow
at them, you look to where they are pointing: your shoulder. Perched
there is a beautiful rainbow-coloured butterfly. It appears
to be studying you.
'This is Phene,' Kalika tells you, 'our realm butterfly.
She presides over the butterfly adoption program here in the forest. If
you'd like to adopt, I'm sure Phene will explain the procedure to you.' You
glance at the butterfly, who flies off, returning quickly with a rolled
up piece of parchment. You open the scroll and begin to read:
On adopting butterflies
To adopt a butterfly in the realm, one must first find
the caterpillar that will grow into the butterfly adult. Enter the
hunt and search the grass for hidden areas. When you come across
a caterpillar, take it home with you. It will turn into a chrysalis
within a few days, then emerge as a butterfly within a week of pupating.
There are several rules to follow when adopting:
1) Save all caterpillars to your hard drive.
Do NOT link to them!
2) Make sure that all pages with caterpillars,
chrysalids, and butterflies on them have a link to https://www.angelfire.com/in3/rikalekalika/index.html
on them somewhere.
3) Have all stages up within a week of receiving
them.
4) Don't even think of claiming any of these
as your work. All butterflies, caterpillars, and chrysalids were
created by me, Rikale, and I will not be happy if you try to steal them. Also,
do not edit them at all. They are how they were born! Don't
change them!
5) Send us an Email
with the following information to receive your chrysalis and butterfly
stages:
Your name
Caterpillar(s)'s name(s)
EXACT URL of caterpillar(s)
Colour of caterpillar's spots (this will affect butterfly
colour)
Colour has nothing to do with butterfly hierarchy;
butterflies have no colour rank at all. However, white and black
spotted caterpillars are rare. How your butterfly is coloured,
however (solid colours, gradients, or textures) depends on how much work
you put into your butterfly's home. If it's on a page with a
bunch of other cyberpets with a 'this is my butterfly isnt it pretty' statement
under it, you'll probably just get a solid colour. Be creative!
And rule 6) Have fun!
'Well,' says Kalika, 'are you ready to hunt for a butterfly?'

No,
go back South!
Phene was drawn and coloured by moi, Rikale. Don't
steal her, as you can easily adopt a butterfly of your own.
