You walk into a gigantic cave with roughly half a dozen medium-sized pools of bubbling water. Hot steam rolls thickly through the air, reminding you of a sauna. You cough as the yellowish steam invades your lungs, and squint your eyes to attempt to see through the opaque clouds. You turn to your two pixie guides for further instruction.
'Don't let the pools bother you,' says Kalika. 'Actually, only the southern area of the pools is open at the moment. The older dragons are a bit indignant of us taking visitors through their bathing areas, but they've agreed to allow humans in this area, at least.' You look at her dubiously, and Rikale joins her side.
'The dragons will be fine. Even if they did decide to change their minds, the most they would do is yell and smoke a bit. None of the animals we have here would intentionally be violent, no matter how bad their temperments.'
'Oh really, now.' A voice floats out from the clouds. You see movement and strain your eyes in a vain attempt to see what is out there. Suddenly, you find yourself almost nose-to-nose with a dragon. A large green dragon. You feel the blood drain from your face, much to your own humiliation. The dragon chuckles slightly, as do the pixies. 'Don't worry yourself. I won't hurt you, although I know a few dragons in my homeland who would not hesitate. My name is Malyx.' You bow deeply.
You utter what you hope is a polite greeting. Malyx smiles. 'Am I the first adult dragon you've met?' You nod, and he chuckles again. 'No wonder. If you want to see size, you can pay a visit to some of the other elder dragons. I'm one of the smallest. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to finish my bath. These sulfer pools are good for rheumatism, you know.' He bids you farewell and disappears into the yellow steam.
