Walking Towards the Light
You head north, walking towards a faint, sickly green light. The light gets steadily brighter, but remains the same pale greenish colour. You follow Icadia closely, wondering just what you could encounter in this realm.
Up ahead you discover the source of the light : a large, glowing spider web is stretched between two dead, blackened trees. You slow down, thoughts of what a spider that size could possibly look like. Icadia turns to you impatiently.
'Afraid already? Ha!' She sneers superiorly at you. You blush crimson and straighten your back, walking forward with much more confidence that you feel. Reflecting on that thought, you realize that any confidence at all would be more than you feel. You shake your head and decide to ignore that thought.
A sudden golden blur on the web makes you freeze in your tracks. You shiver as you notice two large cocoons of the strange green spider silk stuck on the web, attempting to keep your mind from asking itself what those could possibly be. The blur stops and stares at you. You stare back, in awe and terror. This creature has the upper body of a woman, and the lower body of a giant spider!
'Hello Icadia,' the being says in a voice as smooth as silk. 'What have you brought me today?' The spider woman eyes you hungrily.
'Not food, my dear. This is a human in our realm, sent by Kalika Kiskmet and Rikale Fyrlight from the Overworld.' The spider woman snorts and Icadia rolls her eyes. You flush faintly.
Icadia turns to you and performs introductions. She motions towards the strange spider woman. 'This is Orv Maeter, the First and the Last. She was the first here, and says she will be the last to leave. If any of us can leave.' Icadia looks at her surroundings and sighs softly. You wonder if you could have imagined the look of pained sadness on her face.
'Yes, dearie,' Orv croons to you. 'Come closer and I will tell you more about myself.' You look at her, look into her eyes. You lose yourself and feel your mind and body disconnect...
A hand roughly grabbing your shoulder pulls you back into reality. Icadia glares at Orv malevolently. 'In coming here you agreed to respect the rules set down, even if you do not agree with them. That inclues not eating guests of ours!' She snarls in anger.
Orv, her eyes never leaving your face, answers, 'Getting soft on humans, Icadia? I never would have dreamed.'
'It is my job,' the dark angel growls. She turns to you. 'Let's get out of here.'
