Unicorn Stages of Life
Every unicorn goes through three stages of life: egg, foal,
and adult. The egg stage lasts for one full month, but eggs are not
adopted out until they have set for three weeks. All unicorn
eggs look alike:
and give no indication as to unicorn colour.
After the egg hatches, the foal emerges. Foals are
lightly coloured and give a hint at the adult colour, although specials
such as elementals will appear to be normal unicorns at this stage. For
example, a fire unicorn would look reddish; a metallic may appear to be
a grey. Foals grow for two weeks before reaching adulthood. Here
are sample pictures of what a blue foal and adult might look like:

Adult
Once a unicorn becomes an adult it stops growing. Also,
once it matures it can then find a mate and start laying eggs. Unfortunately,
female unicorns can only lay up to 6 clutches, depending on colour, before
they must retire. Unicorns mate for life.

Thanks to Dee Dreslough
for her unicorn foal and adult, which were coloured by moi (Rikale)! The
egg was made my me. Please don't take them; you can easily adopt
your own.
