You eagerly follow the two pixies, excited to get your first glimpse of a vaishen, a creature you have never even heard of! You ask your two guides what exactly these creatures are.
'Vaishen? Oh yes, well they aren't very well-known. They're sort of like a cross between a deer and a goat, but they are magical creatures. You see, depending on their colouration, the different vaishen have different powers. They have control over the elements. Here they are, you'll see' Rikale points to a few small figures trotting towards you. In the lead is a small blue animal, resembling a deer.
'Filson is our lead male. As you can see, he is blue with raindrops on his back flank. That marks him as a water vaishen.' Kalika giggles as he leaps in the air. Filson trots over to you and butts his head against your leg. You obligingly pet him.
A sudden push from behind causes you to whirl around in alarm. You are faced with a reddish vaishen, this one larger than Filson! You hold out a hand to it and it sniffs you curiously.
'Now Sarri, be nice to our guest.' Rikale gives the small vaishen an impressive lecture on manners, making you feel somewhat bad yourself. You ask the two pixies about this vaishen, as well as the others.
'Sarri is the lead female,' Rikale tells you. 'I suppose that title is unnecessary at this point, considering all of the vaishen are still young. But these two are older than the rest. They are also wiser, which is always a good trait to find in a leader.'
'But not one always found...' Kalika mutters. She shakes her head and continues where Rikale left off. 'As you can see though, female vaishens are larger than the males. This is most likely due to the fact that females are the ones who give birth. But, the males are still much more powerful, as you probably noticed from the differences in shoves from your two new friends.' You nod in agreement.
'The other three members of the herd are male fire vaishen Dalhad...' A small yellow and red animal steps forward.
'... female water vaishen Katrina...' Another larger vaishen, this one light blue, approaches.
'... and a very special female rainbow vaishen, Terillasa.' A gorgeous, multi-coloured vaishen crawls out of the tall grass where she was hiding. She walks up to you cautiously, looking ready to flee. You slowly reach out and stroke her soft head, and she lets out a sigh of contentment.
You smile at these beautiful creatures, wondering how anyone would want to adopt them out. They are divine! At a jump from Filson, the herd takes off, galloping and leaping through the field. You stare after them with longing.
