Motorcycles are Everywhere!

The purpose of this webpage is to try to make the public aware that it is important to stay alert for all smaller vehicles. We all need to share the roadway and try to make it as safe as possible for all of us.

I have read about many Motorcycle accidents. Some are at the fault of the Motorcyclist, and some are the fault of Motorists. There have also been a lot of Deer, Motorcycle accidents. These kind of accidents are hard to avoid, but with being alert while driving at night and knowing your ability to handle the different situations that we may encounter, our chances of not hitting Deer or Animals will be better.

I took the ABATE Motorcycle Rider Course and was told that the number one reason there are Automobile Motorcycle accidents are that the driver of the Automobile said that they just didn’t see the Motorcycle.

As all should know the differences between Motorcycles and Automobiles are: Motorcycles are smaller and we have fewer lights, we are more difficult to see in traffic. We are lighter and are very sensitive to other forces like wind and road surfaces. We have less protection, we are more exposed to wind, weather, sun, bugs and traffic. The most critical differences between Motorcycles and cars are stability and vulnerability. We as Motorcylists must learn to operate a Motorcycle differently than how we drive a Automobile. We need to do our part also in preventing accidents.

If you are a new rider or even someone that has been riding for a long time, the ABATE Course is a good and imformative course. They will teach you many things that you will apply to riding a Motorcycle. The have a beginner course and a Skilled Riders course.

Here are some websites to take a look at some statistics on Motorcycle Accidents.

Statistics I know that this one is updated in 2000 and is from London, but still the same you can see that it happens everywhere. Here are a graph on monthly fatalities: Graphs

Here is a Motorcycle death close to home: Times Union

I would just like to see everyone be aware that we must share the same road and we as Motorcycle riders would like to have the same respect as all other sharing the road.

Just for a joke, this is not the way to ride:
