The centre has Prof. Shatendra
K. Sharma as its fulltime regular Director.
He has versatile
experience of research and academic administration with more than 28 years
experience of teaching, R&D, Defence Research , Educational Planning,
Administration, anagement & co-ordination. His research publications
at national /international level are in the areas of Atomic and Nuclear
Radiation Physics, Fluorescent -rays, electronic material processing and
characterization of semiconductors, solar energy and pollution control.
He has been a supervisor / examiner of M.Tech. and Ph.D. students.
Has vast teaching experience from undergraduate to M.Phil./ Ph.D. level
in Physics/ Electronics/ Instrumentation and Computer applications.
He was honoured by DRDO for his outstanding an meritorious work on electronic
materials for integrated guided missile project. He is scientific tampered
visionary with technology for common man as mission. During his professional
career as Lecturer, Scientist with DRDO, Associate Professor, Head of Instrumentation
Centre of Instrumentation Centre JNU, Director AICTE and Advisor
AICTE he has made significant contributions in the field of education particularly
for the expansion of technical education in India. He also contributed
in the planning of three National Institutions i.e. IIMs at Calicut, Indore
and IIITat Gwaliar. He initiated the process of accreditation of technical
education programs as Member Secretary of National Board of Accreditation
of AICTE and developed basic criteria and scheme for evaluation and quality
control of technical education programs. He operated and formulated
several new schemes in AICTE for development of technical education, Grant
of Charter , professional organizations/ bodies, matching grants and grant
of autonomy. Received several honours in the form of Fellowships
and membership of national and international professional societies/ bodies
and invited to chair sessions in seminars/ conferences and deliver lectures
as honorary/guest faculty on various subjects. Current areas of his interest
are ion-atom collisions characterization of semiconductor materials, solar
energy, pollution control, sensors, multimedia and computer animation,
biomedical instrumentation and Intellectual property rights and Patents.
Developed courses on computer hardware, Internet/ multimedia and training
on popular computer packages.
