Warsaw Speedway Results
A huge crowd watched the Saturday night races at the Warsaw Speedway which were climaxed by the crowning of this year's Kosciusko County Fair Queen. A number of interesting occurrances happened during the event. After Larry Montel won the Hobby Feature, he experienced serious drive shaft difficulties under the car. Had there been one more lap, Montel would have been unable to finish. Roger Grossnickle was knocked out of the feature event for about the tenth time. He has had some kind of problem every Saturday night and is now tagged by many drivers, "the hard luck driver of the Speedway". Art Smith started last in the Late Model Feature and worked his way into second.
Second District Congressman Earl F. Landgrege, of Valparaiso, was introduced to the huge crowd and escorted during the event by Mr. William Orr, Kosciusko County Fair President. Saturday night's car race was broadcast in part over radio stations WRSW - AM and FM and sponsored by Warsaw Automotive. One of the main features of next week's Speedway activities will be a Women's Powder Puff Race. Joining Montel as a feature winner were Paul Roberts, Stock Feature winner and Jim Elliott, Modified Feature finalist.

Feature Results: Modified Feature - Jim Elliott, 1st; Tom Beezley, 2nd; Jim Murphy, 3rd. Stock Feature - Paul Roberts, 1st; Art Smith, 2nd; Les Sroufe, 3rd. Hobby Feature - Larry Montel, 1st; Bruce Hogue, 2nd; Duane Ronk, 3rd.

Warsaw Speedway Results
A large enthusiastic crowd got their money's worth during the Saturday night races at the Warsaw Speedway. Jerry Baker lost a wheel in the late model feature and rolled over several times. Slightly shaken, he got into modified 31, normally driven by brother Gary, just to make sure he hadn't lost his nerve...he hadn't. Rick Leverton rolled six times in front of the grandstand hitting the track with a crunch each time. He was helped out of his car, momentarily stunned, but not seriously hurt.
Both features, semi-late and modified, were 50-lap events and trophies were given to the first three places with a $100 bonus to the winners. Winning the stock feature was Roger Grossnickle, the modified feature winner was Jim Murphy. Capturing the top spot in the hobby feature event was Duane Ronk. On Saturday, Sept. 4, the season's hobby stock championship will run.

Feature Results: Modified Feature - Jim Murphy, 1st; Jim Elliott, 2nd; Tom Beezley, 3rd. Stock Feature - Roger Grossnickle, 1st; Les Sroufe, 2nd; Jim Bucher, 3rd. Hobby Feature - Duane Ronk, 1st; Bruce Hogue, 2nd; Chuck Sainer, 3rd.
