Various Other Things

I know, I know. Everyone's got a links page. My feeling is that if I like these this much, I should let everyone in on it. And why.

I warn you, I have tastes that run NC-17 and angsty and perverted in fanfic. But it's all damned good writing.

Harry Potter

In case you didn't guess, this is my main fandom. Dunno why. Although I suspect it has something to do with Lucius Malfoy.(wink)

Roman Holiday, and its sequels Jewel of the Nile and Last Tango in Paris, all by Anna. I only wish I could write this well. It has made me laugh and cry and obsessively check for updates. Generally SS/HG, with other things going on too.

Lust over Pendle, by A.J. Hall. It's slash. It's a story about love, and family loyalty, and it's funny as hell and....indescribable. Just go read it already.

The Love Song of Bastard and Idiot, by Predatrix. It's funny. It's snarky. It's a wonderful Snape, and an amazingly human and believeable Harry. This works.

Summon The Lambs To Slaughter by La Guera. This is....compelling. Dark. Fascinating. Strange. And very, very good.

Quidditch in Bed, by Angel of the North. Complete with chapters on Polishing Your Broom, Your Witch and The Snitch, and Setting Up A Match, it's delightful innuendo and immensely funny. Read for a good giggle.

The Substitute, by Anna. Dumbledore being himself, Snape being snarky, drunken centaurs and, blimey, who's taking over from Hagrid? Howls of laughter. Fabulous.

Rondo Veneziano, by Abby. Pure het smut. But very well written. Snape in Venice. Purr.

Okay, I think I'll just recommend all of the site...they're all really amazingly good writers.

Black Gold "Evelyn Wilkes did not need moonlight for her blood to seem like oil- the pipelines that gathered oil from the beating dual hearts of Iran and Iraq spread, blue-black veins, underneath her white skin. She was the mother-goddess, the nurturer, Hera and Ashtoreth and Isis and Iduna. Her offspring was industry: the heavy clank of a goods train, the impatient honking of a car, the inexorable rattle of a tank, the clipped rotor noise of a plane taking off-- these sounds replaced the tears and laughter of a child at her side. She looked at civilisation itself and felt a warm swell of pride-- it belonged to her, every grimy cog, every automated factory, every swirl of greasy smog; it was her legacy."

World War II. Betrayal, lust, and the black gold. Her other things are also utterly amazing.

Clued by Ailei. Sirius. Remus. James. First times, kind friends, and some really hot sex. Oh, YUM. Note: restrictedsection.org requires you to register to see their stuff.

A Little Touch of Harry in the Night by Amanuensis. You know, I didn't think I'd like it. More fool me. She handles the characters superbly well, and the sex is natural and well done. Heck, read all her stuff. It's all good. Note: restrictedsection.org requires you to register to see their stuff.

Sheep's Clothing by Anne Hedonia. A twisted little piece of wrong with hot sex and...well, as she says, Mary Sue went home. Wow.Note: restrictedsection.org requires you to register to see their stuff.

Sweet Hypocrisy by Icarus. Is it kindness to make it clear that you're lying to yourself? My, but I like a nice nasty Snape. Note: restrictedsection.org requires you to register to see their stuff.

Oral Sex by Isis. We always knew these two would either wind up killing each other or trying to shag each other through the mattress. And we also get to laugh at them drunk..."Fuck you." "Fuck you." (giggle) Fabulous fun. And the sequel, The Morning After, has some good sex, too. Note: restrictedsection.org requires you to register to see their stuff.

Straight by Mieko. Oh, yes. This reminds me exactly why I like girls.

Filios by Keleru. Ooooh. Gamesplaying in a really sick and twisted way. Draco is very much his father's son. Beautiful writing.

Pirates of the Caribbean

The plot of the movie was dry, the costuming stank(and I should know) the characters were two-dimensional...except there was Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, and I was annoyed when the movie ended because I wanted to watch him just a little bit more.

Hurricane Jack by Shrift. Slash, for all us girls who thought, you don't want to stay with Elizabeth, Will, you REALLY want to go with Jack. (grin)
"This does not mean that Jack is unprepared. Except when he is, and when he is, it's usually in some fabulously spectacular fashion that results in a short-lived marooning or being not-quite-hanged. (Should he ever have the miserable misfortune to hang in chains on Deadman's Cay, Jack firmly believes that he will hang there more fabulously than any pirate who has been hanged there before, simply because everything Jack does is fabulous.)"

Tactics, by Hairloprillar. Jack uses an unconventional tactic when run to ground. Hee.
