February 12,2004~
Okay..so I've been really really bad at updating!!
Things have been so hectic! We are trying to get
everything ready for when Sophia comes home! I
am so excited!
So...the last I wrote Sophia was still on the
high flow cannula and at 4L! She was also getting
started on bottles at 10cc! Well alot has changed!
Sophia is now on regular flow cannula at 1.5L!
She also has been doing very well with the bottles!
She is now taking 30-60cc at every feeding! Her total
feedings are 75cc! So she is taking anywhere to half
to almost the whole feeding by bottle! This is a
a good thing! They were talking about sending her
home on the NG tube(feeding tube)! It might not
happen now! SHe just might come home on just bottles!
Of course there's still the possibility that she will
come home on oxygen, but that's okay! No biggie!
We just want her home already!
So Sophia has made all these improvements! She
now weighs 9lb 6oz! She's got the chubbiest little
face! I just love her double chins and chipmunk
cheeks! :)
So that's about it! Sophia may be home in 3-5wks!
I'm so excited I just can't contain myself! :)
February 19,2004~
Well I have some FANTASTIC news..and some not
so fantastic news!!
The not so fantastic news is that tomorrow
Sophia is having a procedure done. They are
going to go in and look at her airway. They
have to put her to sleep for it though..I'm
scared to death about it! But they said it's
only a 5 minute procedure and they aren't doing
anything major except looking in her airway!
The resident I talked to said it something
they do all the time and the actual dr
performing it is one of the best in the WORLD! :)
The FANTASTIC news is....
Sophia might be coming home on March 1!!!!!!
I'm cautiously excited!!!
But I did get alot done for her to come home
today! I went and got my window roller shades
for the car..got the free one from BRU and
bought a Winnie the Pooh one...got my bottles
of hand sanitizer and the batteries I need for
the baby mirror for the car! :) I even put her
stroller in the trunk today! :) I'm very excited!!!

Well, Sophia did very well during her procedure
but we didn't get the good news we were hoping
for. We found out that the left side of her vocal
cords is weak and her airway is 75% blocked! BUT
the dr said that she is doing amazingly well
considering that the blockage is so much! They
also think that all of this is due to her acid
reflux. So they are hoping that by upping her meds
for the reflux they can resolve the blockage!
In other news! Sophia is coming home next week!
Yippie!! AnneMarie told me to start getting her
stuff this weekend like diapers, formula, rice
cereal(that goes in her bottle) and anything else
I might need! Her oxygen and other med supplies are
supposed to be delivered on Thurs of this week! So
exciting!! I can't wait!!
So that's all for now! Now you all know why I haven't
updated since posting about the procedure the first
time....too busy getting things ready!! YAY!
March 1, 2004~
SOPHIA IS COMING HOME TOMORROW!!!!
I'm so excited! I just can't believe it! We
finally get to bring out little girl home
with us! It's a very bittersweet time for us!
Since Sophia is coming home, it will probably
be a while again before I can update this! I
will post pictures of her homecoming soon after
so everyone can see her!
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers!
It really helped us make it though this time!
