Death Shadow
When I was 20 I experienced one the most frightening experiences I have ever had. I worked second shift and would visit my boyfriend after work, often not leaving until 2 or 3 in the morning. He lived with his parents and would walk me to the door just in case I was to wake them. His house was kind of odd, the upstairs led into the kitchen which would allow me to leave out of the side door. As I turned the corner to the driveway one night I could see the shadow of a man leaning against my car as if he was waiting for me. I froze and couldn't move or speak. I didn't want to go to my car, I also didn't want to go back into the house and wake everyone up. I finally decided I defiantly wasn't going to the car, so I went back in the house and got my boyfriend to walk out with me. Of course by that time, nothing was there. But I was crying by this time because my heart literally stopped when I first seen the shadow! I eventually calmed down and began to drive home. I was such a nervous wreck over it, and from that day on he walked me to the car every single time I left. I told my mom this story, halfway hoping she would tell me I was crazy. Instead she began to tell me that an old wives tale from the hills of Ky (where grandma and grandpa were from) was that before someone close to you died you would sometimes see the "death shadow" and that the people really believed this and many reported seeing one. My experience reminded her of these stories she had heard growing up. Three weeks later, grandpa died unexpectedly from a heartattack.
