History Overview:
Joseph grew up the child of Terry and Sharon Garbo,
miners in an asteroid facility on Baxley in the Point Barrow Combat Region of
the Crucis March. As a young boy, Joe had dreamed of soaring through space as a
proud fighter pilot for the AFFS, but lack of funds to allow him to attend an
academy meant he would likely be consigned to the same job as his parents.
Living in the rigors of space, he developed high G-Tolerances very early in
life.
Growing up in the facility with many other young ones,
Joseph learned about mining and worked alongside his parents early in life. He
displayed a skill for maneuvering shuttles and was often able to restore
functionality to the Comm. Systems after failures. His dreams of becoming a
pilot long gone, he resigned himself to his lot. However, his luck changed when
an AFFS officer showed up at the facility, searching for those with exceptional
talent. After proving himself superior through a grueling series of tests,
Joseph was offered a spot at the prestigious NAIS College of Military Sciences.
Although he would not get the pilot training he wanted desperately, he would be
well and paid and respected as a scout for the AFFS infantry. His parents spent
every pound they had to cover what his scholarship did not, so proud that their
son should be in the AFFS.
Joseph’s Sergeant took a special interest in him,
demanding nothing but the best from the boy. Joseph consistently scored above
all others as a scout and was eventually tested for Mechwarrior aptitude with
the recommendation of his Sergeant. Years later, Joseph was recruited into the
mercenary unit Harewood’s Harvesters and given a brand new Rakshasa. With the
rank of Leftenant, he started his rise to command the Recon Battalion.
Serving with bravery and skill for seven years, he was
awarded command of the 17th Recon and recently decorated with the Silver
Sunburst for actions against Katherine Loyalists in the Draconis March during
the recent Civil War. Underneath it all, Joseph still dreams of learning to fly.
