     Normandy beachhead D-day plus 10 

         This is the battleship Tennessee as she appeared before Pearl Harbor.  On December 7, 1941, the Tennessee was on the stern of the Arizona, and to the inboard of the West Virginia.

Cool patch, very cool patch.  It was worn by Jim Childers in Greenland.  Jim missed shipping out on the Dorchester, and missed death as it sank on the way to Greenland.  He went instead on the Fairfax, which sank on the way back from Greenland.  Jim and his unit was charged with, among other duties, keeping a mile of runway swept clear of snow with hand shovels and brooms.  There was no shortage of snow in Greenland.
