Hero
Where's that hero?
The one who used to slay dragons and lay them at your feet.
The one who gave
you a rose (which cooked in the car).
The one who told tales of life and dreams
deep into the night. The hero who could cry.
What's that hero doing now? Working hard for his place as king.
Fighting
the good fight against schemers and black knights.
Bringing in gold enough
to feed and keep us warm.
He's very brave and very strong. He's on a crusade..
come along.
Who is that hero? On most days a champion. Uses his mind to outwit the enemy.
The enemy lack of growth. The enemy irrelevance.
Everything he says is streamlined
so it matters.
Kill the black knight, his strength increases.
Killing the
power, the way of the world.
Meanwhile, in the kingdom, in all its medieval and feudal glory,
edges out
the serfs down the the very last one.
Scoff at and bully them, count all their
ribs again.
What does it matter? Our hero is not one of them.
Our hero can hurt. Our hero can cry. He can lie down in his bed at night and close his eyes.
Our hero is brave. Our hero is strong.
With the voice of a lion. He is never
wrong.
But what will become of us, under the fight? How long can slaying a dragon
be right?
Methinks he's one of us, all said and done. He takes all the glory
and distributes none.
