Bandits seize $1M from Bel Air gas station Tuesday, January 3rd 2006 |
Two gun-toting bandits carted off $1M from a Bel Air petrol station on Old Year's Day after tying up the security guard, the police said in a press release.
According to the police, the incident occurred at about 3 am on Saturday. Police in 'C' Division are continuing with their investigations, the release said. And police in Berbice are investigating a robbery under arms by three men, one of who was armed with a gun, committed on 74 year-old Maurice Fung-a-Fat, a businessman of #19 Village, Corentyne. Police said that the men went to the businessman's house, tied up the watchman and knocked on a door. When Fung-a-Fat responded, the suspects assaulted him while demanding money. He later handed over $150,000 to the bandits who then escaped. Fung-A-Fat was treated for his injuries at the New Amsterdam Hospital and was later sent away. Police investigations are continuing. |
