Mica and I tried sneaking up to this baboon and her baby when they were sitting in a tree. We were half scared she would either run away or rip our faces off, so we got to within about 20m of her and took a few quick pics. Then she got up and started towards us and just strolled on by, about a metre away, completely indiferent to our existence.

Andrea, remember this? This tree is full of birds nests. They were really noisy. And here is a crazy euphorbia tree and a yellow fever tree.

A traditional maasai dwelling, which we called a breadhouse, in the Cultural Boma.

Charles in a yellow fever tree, watching Sarah the giraffe. at this point we had just arrived in lewa.

Dan, this picture is fabulous. I was so excited to see you that time Mica and Alex and I made the trek to see del Campo.

This is the elephant that almost killed Mica and Estella. Wazungo! Watalii! Ninacheza tu. Thanks for risking your life to get me this pic Mica.

Me on the trek to Tasia lodge for an EAD, and one of the rooms at Il Ng'wesi. I'll never forget the views.

Omini Omini Omini! This rhino was wild, but he hung around because there was a watering hole constructed for him, and security guards with huge guns ready to shoot anyone who might want his horns.

Side of the mountain, on the trek to see Del Campo and Agnes. At this point, Kisianne was still in Maasai garb, instead of a plaid shirt, wool vest, and a touque that said "love". I think we were all slighlty smitten with that guy for a brief second in time somewhere along the way.

If you could move Alex's head a smidge to the left, you would see a tiny bluish dot that was in fact the pool at the lodge. This is also on the trek over the mountain to see those girls at the lodge. the heat rose as we were going down the other side of the mountain- the weather was so different down there than up on the plateau.

andrea and mica on the trip to lewa conservancy. And Dan playing encashui at the cultural boma

we hiked to tasia lodge and met up with two of our long-lost and much-missed comrades, jon and sita. alex and jon spent some time catching up. tasia lodge was beautful, i wish i had some photos for you to see. but i remember it all so clearly...

i dont think you knew i took this picture of you estella. but i really like it. you were looking through your newly-found pictures of home that had gotten lost.

the view from one of the lodge rooms, looking out at another one. ewok-style

here is the view of the watering hole and the land surrounding the lodge

the group headed down the mountain on our way to tasia lodge. janet had incredibly itchy feet, and andrea felt like shit because we had eaten so much at our sleepover the night before.
