Q. 6 This is a very common question for which we get hundreds of mails everyday. I have got rank ---- in CET. Which college/branch am I likely to get? Please click for engg cut-off ranks HERE Please click for medical/dental cut-off ranks HERE This is a link to the page which gives you the information about last year's cut-off ranks, or the students who have selected the last seat in that particular college/branch. With this you can get an approximate idea if you can get a seat this year, i.e. if your present CET rank is better than that given for a particular college, you can expect to get a seat.
Q. 5 From: swetha bala To:cetinfo@rediffmail.com Date: Fri, 12 Apr 02 05:53:54 IST Dear Sir, I am a student who has written my 12 th std in march 2002 and am expecting my results in the month of may.I hail from Tamil Nadu-Chennai. I am interested in applying for the Karnataka common entrance test in the Non Karnata Quota, unfortunately I have missed the last dates for obtaining the application form and returning the duly filled one.I happened to see your web page offering a solution,if posible, to candidates who have missed the last dates for returning the filled application form along with the DD. Can you please help me in any way??? I would be very grateful to you ,if you could help me , as i am preparing for the CET exams very earnestly and hope to get a good seat in a Medical college.Kindly get bck to me at the earliest as to what I can do. Thanking you, Swetha.B No Sweta, there is no way you can write the CET this year. The solution was you getting direct admission into the colleges through management quota, where you pay a donation. If you are interested in further details, please write to cetinfo@rediffmail.com Regards, Arindam.
Q. 1 Subject: information regarding CET Karnataka Date: Thu, 11 Jan 2001 10:03:44 +0530 Sir, I am working in Zensar Tecnologies, pune. I want to get informations regarding admissions to Karnataka Engineering Colleges for my brother who has completed his 10+2 from outside karnataka. How should he apply and when the admission forms are going to be issued. Are there a very limited number of seats for outside karnataka students. could you advice how should he prepare for clearing the exam and could I get previous year question papers . I will be thankful if you please help me out in this regard. kindly mail me at the following address: ******@***sar.com yours sincerely shailesh jain Hi, Ya, there are lesser number of seats for non-karnataka students than are for Karnataka, but there are quite a few anyway, esp. with almost 36 new engg colleges added this year, a little above average student shouldnt have much problem getting a seat. Since for non-karnataka students only the CET is considered one should prepare for this test well. The CET is not something very different but very pertaining to the 11th and 12th standard. So, if one is thorough with his/her 11/12th standard, shouldnt require more than 1 week to brush up with exact syllabus of CET which may vary a little depending on the state syllabus or CBSE, ICSE, etc. as it is mainly based on the Karnataka state board syllabus. To gain information about the form and how to apply visit https://www.angelfire.com/indie/arindam OR http://www.cetinformation.com for the latest information on CET.
Q. 2 Dear Sir, I stay in Goa. However my parents are from karnataka. I would like to apply for CET as a resident of Karnataka. Is it possible and what are the formalities. Awaiting your reply Regards Aditya Hi Aditya, Here are 2 clauses for the eligibilty for karnataka quota seats, 1) The candidate should have studied and passed first and second year pre-university exam or eq. within the state of Karnataka from and eduacational institution run or recognised by the government, and that either of his parents should have studied in Karnataka for a min. period of 7 years. 2) In case of candidates whose mother toungue is Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava and is residing outside the state of Karnataka but within the territory of India, such candidates should have passed the qualif. exam from an university or board or any other inst. located outside Karnataka. Provided that the student shall undergo a simple test to prove his ability to speak read and write Kannada when he attains the prelim round for selecting a seat. Since U dont seem to have studied the 11th, 12th standard in Karnataka, U wont be eligible under the first clause. The second one U have to decide on your own. Of course you could apply in the Non-Karnataka category anytime, and though seats are lesser, the competition is also a little lesser. By the way, which class are you studying in? Q. 3 hi, i am a non karnataka student and i appeared for cet this year.my name is rajdeep ghosh and i m from madhya pradesh.i went through ur website but i could not find information about good colleges outside bangalore like in places like belgaum,hubli,..etc. so i will be very greatfull to u if suggest me the names of good colleges outside bangalore where i can opt for.my concelling is on 25.9.2k.so kindly send ur reply soon.my e mail address is ******** @ redifmail.com .also kindly send some valuable suggestions for me regarding selection of branch & college. Hi, I'm sorry but I cannot offer you much advice on colleges outside Bangalore, as my knowledge is limited there. However I have researched a bit about the college performances in the region you specified, and if college pass percentages are anything to go by, you can get an idea of the colleges. (look below) You can also compare them to the colleges in Bangalore from the website, and get some overall idea. Also if U could give me more information about yourself like your rank I could have adviced you the best option in Bangalore. Basically right now, Computer Science is the most sought after branch. Following it is Info Science and Electronics, which aren't very far apart. Many people are of the view that doing a more core branch like Electronics is better, but going my market needs as of today, Info. Science edges out Electronics. Next comes Telecommunication, which is also a very good branch. It has a lot of similar course with Electronics. Following this are normally boys go in for Mechanical, and girls Electrical. Then there is Instrumentation Technology and Industrial Production in order. Civil is last in the group, with numbers normally falling every year. Architecture is a 5 year course, and is very different from the above courses. But your decision is not as simple as this, as the choice of college combined with the branch allows innumerable permutations and combinations which can make your decision very complicated. As I said if U send me your rank, I can try to make some of your complications simple. IMPORTANT : Also for our database, it would be a great favour if you could inform me in a little detail how you came to know about the website. Please keep visiting the site as it is updated very regularly, and inform your friends about it who U think could benefit from it. Q. 4 Arindam, We are very thankful for your information on Karnataka CET. FYI, we are settled in Karnataka. However, we would like to enquire about following aspects - - Are there any colleges in Karanataka providing Aeronautical Engineering courses? If so, please provide us further details. - Do you know any other site providing information on Madras CET ? In general, we are interested in knowing information about Aeronautics (B.E.) degree courses available in India. Thanks and Regards, Dilip 24 November, 2000. Hello Dilip, We are happy to know that our site proved useful to you. No, there are no colleges in my knowledge which offer Aeronautical Engineering course in Karnataka under the VTU. However a number of colleges offer Automobile and Mechanical Engg., after which a post graduation could be done in Aeronautics. For complete information on colleges is Karnataka and the courses offered, click https://www.angelfire.com/indie/arindam/list.html Few of the IIT's in India do offer this course. You could search for 'Madras CET' in our Google search engine for more information. You are most welcome to write to us with doubts and suggestions, Thanking you, Arindam Barua. HOME.
