A total of 4 tomatoe saplings were planted. All of these grew full size in around 3-1/2 weeks (mid july) and bore fruits for an average of two months since then (July, August and going September'08).

We planted around 6 Strawberry saplings which took a while to settle in the ground. These did bear some fruit, an average of around 20 Srawberries for this season, which is not a very great figure !!(still going on: late September'08).

There were two Cantaloupe runners that took root and grew for a while (we planted these quite late in the Summer and it did not have enough time to reach maturity). However, these still bore a whole 2 cantaloupe's :)

The tomatoe plants thrived in the summer heat and soon reached maturity (as seen from the yellow flowers). This picture shows the very initial stage when the plants first started bearing the fruit..

The first batch of tomatoes were plucked off raw and then allowed to ripe in the warmth of the house. The picture above was the result: "Luscious red tomatoes". It was the first of the 6 batches that the plants have bore. Amazing isn't it? .

This picture shows the raw fruit right after they were gathered from the plants. These took around 6 days to ripen. If left on the plant, they would run the risk of being pecked at by the birds, nibbled at by rabbits and other animals/pests..

A dramatic representation of the ripe tomatoes is seen above. Mother nature is awesome :)..

The strawberry shrubs grow at surface level and do not climb vertical. These are also runners and would always spread in the horizontal direction. The picture shows one such shrub that bore the first strawberries of our garden :).

Similar to the srawberry, the cantaloupe plant is also a crawler/creeper that spreads along the horizontal surface and never climbs vertically. The picture shows the only two cantaloupe's that the plant bore in this season. Hopefully, we would be able to achieve more in the next summer of 2009..
