Last night I went over to Z’s to see what he had to offer up in the world. He was a bit cantankerous…as usual.
I was railing about a news item I had just heard. “Why do actors get a quarter million dollars an episode when they don’t do anything that benefits society? Are they intelligent? Do they give us life-saving drugs? Do they discover new universes? It’s outrageous.”
“Why are you always so amazed at everything? You need to become cynical. You are about 20 years behind the times.”
“Nearly everyone I know is cynical. Why should I become cynical? It is not me.”
“You need to realize the world sucks. Then live in defiance of it. Become a billboard of humanity.”
“I won’t become cynical. I am on my own LuLu path.”
“Cynicism makes you tough. You aren’t tough enough for this world.”
“Good to know. Bye cranky.”
