Acting wunderkind DANIEL RADCLIFFE was all but unknown before he was cast in the career-making part of an apprentice wizard in the world-wide phenomenon 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.' The brand-new star recently took time out of his whirlwind life to talk with ET about how he came to play the bewitching role of Harry!

ET: How did you get involved?
DANIEL: Well, I went to go see a play one night with my mom and dad. In the row in front of us were DAVID HEYMAN the producer and STEVEN KLOVES the screenwriter. [David] introduced himself to us during the break. He was a really nice guy and my dad knew him from work. I was only introduced to them as a producer and a writer, I didn't know that they did 'Harry Potter.'
Then we got a call asking if we would meet with David and I went! I went home that day and we got another call asking us if they would like me to audition -- it just went from there.

ET: It took a lot of auditions?
DANIEL: Actually, it was only three auditions, and then two or three screen tests.

ET: How did you find out you'd landed the part?
DANIEL: They called us up! I was in the bath at the time and my dad picked up the phone. I hear him say "Hello David!" David Heyman was the only David that we knew at the time, so I was pretty sure it was him.
My dad came upstairs and I thought that it was going to be a let-down call to say that I didn't get the part. But he came upstairs and told me and I just sat there for a while to just let it sink in ... and it still hasn't! I just started to cry because I was so happy.

ET: You're set for the next one, right? Are you set for the other four [book-to-film adaptations]?
DANIEL: I'm just going to take it one film at a time. Harry grows stronger in all of the books. So, both mentally and physically, he [is] very different in all of them.

ET: So you are set to do two [movies] and you can do the others if they want you to?
DANIEL: If I'm still enjoying it as much as I am now, I'll do as many as they want me to.
