Brodie Castle & Adyar Bridge

Brodie Castle was built around 1796 by James Brodie, a Civil Servant of the East India Company. A distant relative of his, Dave Brodie, is pictured here in this recent photo of the castle. James Brodie died in 1802, when he drowned in the nearby Adyar river. His wife had a bad dream concerning it and warned him not to swim there but unfortunately he did not heed her advice. The castle now houses the music college.
