This Mad

It's the start of the month
One of twelve I don't like
I'm too upset to even try to write
But I will
There's nowhere else to go
There are scars too deep to heal alone you know

Why - do you rope my skeleton
Only want me to be happy, if it's with you
And I've never been this mad
I've never been this mad

Funny how it's easy to want the way out
These things you think of when your angel leaves town
He said - you can reach me at the number below
But my hands aren't working to pick up the phone

Why - do you think the world has crashed
Into Mercury at last
Don't you understand
I've never been this mad

See how we've changed to each other.

On the Public Speaking tape, Emm says this:
"I don't think I save my dark side for my songs, it happens to come out that way because like I said, I write when I need to write. Or when I feel like I have something to say. And This Mad was one of those songs that I wrote coming in from a really bad night. I didn't have anywhere to go but my song."

That's a cool thing about writing, it gives you an outlet to express things you can't otherwise, or maybe that some people don't want to hear, or that you just wouldn't find yourself saying anywhere else. Or when you can't get in touch with that sympathetic friend who knows how to listen.

This song by Emm is always a 'showstopper' when I've heard her perform it, and that's partly because she usually sings it a capella. With only her voice, it forces the audience to listen! And then she sings it with such intensity that you get that spine-tingling effect. Incredible.

I hope you all get the chance to see Emm in concert! :)

Back home.
