Aristide returned to power and finished off his term February 1996.  He supported a political ally, Rene Preval, to win because he was unable to run due to constitutional law.

*Rene Preval won the election with 88% of the vote.  

*Prior to the invasion of 1994, U.S. press was covering Haiti like it was the only newsworthy story of the century.  After the coup, however, Haiti dropped off the broadcast map, seemingly solved off all of its violent problems.  Not so much.  Violence in Haiti, if anything, got worse.
