Now Playing: Tongan Tradition
Topic: The Art
I did this Oil some years back, which was donated to a local Non-Profit I believe in. I worked with them also previously to that. Their work entailed working with the Disabled, in various forms of Handicaps, Mental and Physical, The work entailed helping them learn a trade and hopefully to work in the outside public sector. I saw many success stories, and the joy of being able to help. I learned more of the human spirit and the resiliency of the soul than I ever did sitting in a college classroom...it was that also, that helped form and recenter my views on art. This piece "Tongan Tradition" was one of those subjects that I happened upon....The image was slotted to be used by in the publication Elements of Literature, Fifth Course published by Holt, Rinehart and Winston.thpugh now it has been sometime and I never received a tear-sheet for confirmation...yet here is this painting which was from real life.
This shows the education in the processes of tradition. Education begins at home... I happened upon this father instructing his son and having him aid in making the ti plant leaf skirts for their ceremony..they agreed and I used the images I snapped for reference.... 36x48 Oil on Canvas "Tongan Tradition" Also may be known as "Father and Son"...Thanks for dropping by!
