The head starts out as a rough circle. Then add the general shape of the chin. Draw a line that cuts the head in half. This is where the eyes should be located. Half the bottom half is where the nose will be, and half of the lowest portion is where the mouth should be. After that, add some details, then just play with it until it looks good. It'll take some practice at first, but eventually it'll get easier. Use your imagination.
