6/8/01 / Combat Zone
Wrestling/ Sewell, NJ/ Champs Arena
- Back at CZW once again.
Doors opened at 8:15, show started a
8:45. About an hour past what CZW said,
which is usually accurate.
- Dark Match:
Barr Cam vs. Fast Eddie Valentine. Barr
a very comical wrestler, and kept acknowledging
some friends in the front row next to
us. Eddie had a nice fuji armbar takedown,
and Dahmer worked on Barr outside during
the match. Valentine walked across 2
ropes and gave Barr a top rope bulldog,
then proceeded to legitamtely slap him
in the face. Did their usual "what
are you doing" legdrop ala Dudley
Boyz & wassssssup. Valentine dominated
whole match and pinned Barr Cam for
the win.
- Dark Match:
Prodigy Tom Marquez vs. Jon Dahmer.
Prodigy got no respect, a where's your
sister chant started. Prodigy pretty
weak, and was all suplexes. Dahmer had
all of the CZW fans with him, and defeated
prodigy fairl quickly.
- Entire lockeroom then
came out to huge CZW chant, announcer
Dennis Shock then did a 10 count to
enter in the new CZW era, and Lou E.
Dangerously came out & smacked Shock
with his cellphone. Lou E. is everywhere
lately! Said there shouldnt be ultraviolent
wrestling, said he would shut down CZW
and the owner of CZW Zandig came out
and proceeded to beat down on Lou E.
Then Lobo beat him down, Justice Pain
& Ric Blade all destroyed him. They
rolled him out & zandig cut a promo
talking about the history of CZW, put
over Blade, Lobo, Pain & Nick Gage
as the heart as soul of CZW, huge CZW
chant. Did 10 count again and the new
era has begun.
- 3 way: Nick
Berk vs. Adam Flash vs. Ruckus. Berk
has come a long way this year, but occassionaly
muffed up a few moves. Flash is very
solid, used to wrestle for WCW, but
garners little respect in CZW since
he sticks to the ground more. Ruckus
is one of the most over character in
CZW. He is a big man but can fly like
a lightweight. He combines acrobatics
in his wrestling and was the man in
this match. Berk and Flash were very
hard to work with it seemed. Lots of
high flying by all 3 combatants, Ruckus
at one point held onto Flash and ran
along the wall and kicked Berk down.
Flash looked to be hurt as he sat around
in the ring most the match. Flash &
berk executed a very nice double chokeslam
powerbomb variation on Ruckus, but Ruckus
overcame for the win.
- Joe Maxima, Jose Maxima
& Red vs. 3 guys from Whipwreck's
school. One of them, Bryan XL I believe
is tag team partners with Red in Steve
Corino's PWF in Pottstown, PA. Best
match of the night. I saw 450 slapshes,
standing shooting star presses, triple
legdrops, craddle piledriver to shooting
star press to legdrop, missile dives,
corkscrew swanton & moosaults, full
nelson suplexs to another shooting star
press to backflip to a splash to a shooting
star press. Wayyyyyyy to fast to keep
track on each name, but they are some
of the best wrestlers I have ever seen
in the U.S., let alone anywhere. Standing
ovation for SAT squad.
- Mark vs Jay Briscoe.
Match stopped quickly by Zandig, saying
there is no use for a rematch, after
an amazing showing at CZW's "Best
of the Best" Jr. Tournament. Dewey
then proceeded to scream at the Briscoes
once again, and the Briscoe's mom came
in & slapped the Dew. Briscoes then
shaved off the last inch of heel they
had attached to their name by turning
on Dew. Dewey's other team, Hardcore
Nick Gage & Nate Hatred then severally
beat down the Briscoes and left them
lying.
- MadMan Pondo vs. Sick
Nick Mondo. A dream match in Glav Dogg's
book (me), but did not turn out to be
as extreme as I had hoped, at all. Pondo
smacked the crap out of Mondo with his
trademark stop sign. Kashmere then interfered
in the match and hit Mondo. Wifebeater
then came out and hit Kashmere. Then
Zandig came out and hit Wifebeater.
Zandig told Kashmere he had no place
in CZW, Kashmere requested for 1 final
match to prove himself, because he claims
to be the #1 supporter for CZW's success.
He was granted the match. Said he would
face his former partner in CZW, Trent
Acid. Acid came out, and now it's the
Battle of the Backseat Boyz!
- Acid & Kashmere
countered each other, than took it to
the air outside. Zandig decided to stay
out & watch the match. First he
took Announcer Dennis Shock's chair
at ringside, then he spit water on Acid's
manager, ZBarr who is part of Zandig's
faction "The Big Dealz." Acid
& Kashmere used 3 chairs & ddt'd
& Powerbombed each other through
the tables. Kashmere has really come
around as of late, and Acid has been
lacking a little as of late. ZBarr pulls
out the ref, but kashmere threw ZBarr
out of the ring, Zandig then pushed
ZBarr under the ring & put the apron
over him. Acid then finished off Kashmere
with the Acid bomb for the win, Trent
Acid never loses! Zandig then came in
the ring and put his finisher, the mother
f'n bomb, on Kashmere. Pain came in
for the save. They then announced a
Barbed wire, Lighttube death match for
Smryna, DE the next day. Acid &
zandig vs. Pain & Kashmere. Acid's
first ultraviolent match!
- Reckless Youth vs.
Fujia. A very solid match, both wrestlers
were flawless, and was the 2nd time
they faced each other, first being for
Steve Corino's federation. Youth &
fujita traded submission maneuevers.
Fujita pulling off a very nice missle
dive spear through the 2nd rope on Youth.
Youth executed an amazing backflip into
a sleeperhold, never letting go of Fujita's
neck. Reckless then did a top rope suplex,
flawless. Top rope german suplex, flawless.
Then a top rope diamond cutter, flawless.
Fujita won with a spinning backbreaker.
Youth then proceeded to shake the hand
of Fujia to congratulate him, but turned
on him. Ric Blade came out for the save
& Youth challenged him & Fujita
to a 3 way the next night in Smryna.
- Main Event: # 1
Contender Match for the CZW Heavyweight
title. Nick Gage vs. Lobo vs. Ric
Blade vs. Justice Pain. Match spilled
very quickly to the outside, Blade executed
an amazing 15 foot Shooting star press
onto all four guys. Pain & Blade
then wrestled each other, as Gage &
Lobo wrestled each other for the entirity
of the match. This is where it got bad.
2 Tables were set on either side of
the arena over by the infamous balcony.
Pain & Lobo were set on either and
Gage & Blade went to the top of
the arena. Has to be over 35 feet high.
Blade did a swanton dive but missed
the tables entirely and bounced off
the floor. Gage then saw what happened
to Blade, slipped & smacked his
chin very hard. He then came down &
suplexed Lobo through 1 table, and Lobo's
left ankle smacked another table &
he badddddly hurt it, yet got up, continued
the match and even took a ddt through
a table. Pain ended the match quickly
after all the chaos. After the show,
EMT's & wrestlers attended to Blade.
The fans clapped and chanted "Rick
Fucking Blade" until he was carried
back.
- Thoughts: Their were some
serious marks at this show. Their were
two guys sitting next to each other
that looked like the Harris Brothers.
They were decked out with sunglasses
on top of their shaved heads, dark shirts,
jeans, brown shoes, and fake gold jewelry
that went down to their stomachs. There
was even a teenager who was wearing
a replica ECW heavyweight Title belt.
My friends & I destroyed Discount
Dewey Donovan. We questioned his sexuality,
his skills, his look, even his hair.
We drew a line and told him not to pass
it. Chauncey even went up to Dewey during
the match and announced he was Gage's
new manager, and that Dewey Should hit
the showers. But honestly Dew is my
favorite manager on the indies, he's
totally outrageous. He comes out looking
ridiculous, with a green jacket that
says "Do the Dew", green pants,
long hair tied up with a hairband. But
what makes him so hilarious is he lets
the fans totally destroy him, and hes
overly enthusiastic about everything.
If his guys are dominating, he'll jump
way up and down in the air. If they
are being dominated, he'll frown, try
to put on a mean face, and stomp the
floor and pout. The fans rip him into
pieces, and he'll look at them in the
eye and pretend to get very aggrivated,
but will never do anything about it.
Definetely a comedian.
But Overall, it was an ok show. The
Youth/Fujita Match, SAT match, and final
match were all solid. Blade always delivers.
However, I was very dissapointed that
we were guranteed crazy hardcore, but
only got some chair & table shots.
I didn't like how everything was built
in Smryna the next day, since Sewell
is the birthplace of CZW. But
noneless CZW delivers a solid show.
Best Match: SAT Squad.
From a scale of 1-100, it get's an 84,
a B. Stay tuned for the next
reports, for IWA, Jersey All Pro &
World Xtreme Wrestling. Till Next time!
