All Pro Wrestling for 6/2/01:
APW returned to the site of so many
great shows over the past years, Pacifica's
Terra Nova High School. The show started
off on a somber note, as it was announced
that Boot Camp student Brian Ong had
passed away earlier in the week. Ong
was acknowledged with a ten-bell-salute,
as well as a red bandage wore by all
of the wrestlers. After paying tribute
to Brian, the show was ready to begin...
-Sean Patrick O'Doule vs. Chicano Flame
This match started off with some good
potential, with both men working hard
to open it up, but it never really got
off the ground. After a few good moves
by each man, less than two minutes into
it, the match was rudely interrupted
by the Original Westside Playaz. Robert
Thompson, Tony Jones & Jimmy Ripp stormed
the ring and beat up both Flame & O'Doule.
Suplexes by Jones & a top rope legdrop
by Thompson, and the match was declared
a no-contest. Winner: No Contest in
1:44 ( * )
-Interview with The Original Westside
Playaz Jimmy Ripp grabbed the mic, and
talked trash to just about everyone
in APW, including the Pacifica fans,
and their opponents tonight, The Snott
Brothers. Ripp has the mouth, and he
has Jones & Thompson to back him up.
They are a lethal combination! The Snotts
and Betty Beefcake had about enough
of this tirade, and decided to come
to ringside. Beefcake let it be known
that she would have no problem giving
Ripp the Biscuits & Gravy if he got
involved in the match tonight, and she
also made a promise that her men would
leave Pacifica wearing the tag team
titles.
-Super Destroyer 2000 & Sheik Ali
Boom Boom (with Buddy Cotello Esq.)
vs. The Ballard Brothers (with Cheerleader
Melissa) Before this match started,
Buddy Cotello let SD2K know that he
better "know his role". Cotello made
it sound like Boom Boom was the star
of the team, and SD2K would be playing
second fiddle from now on. The match
started with a Boom Boom/SD2K sneak
attack on The Ballards. This was cut
short, when the brothers turned the
tide and knocked their opponents out
of the ring. Boom Boom & SD2K didn't
seem to be getting along very well at
first, and began to shove each other.
While this was going on, Melissa nailed
an unsuspecting Buddy Cotello with a
bodypress off the apron! The fans went
nuts for Melissa, as Buddy was knocked
to the floor. Once the match regained
some order, The Ballard Brothers took
control for about the next four minutes,
using their fantastic double team moves
that makes them one of the top indy
tag teams today. The momentum was cut
short however, when SD2K hit a powerslam
on Shane and put the lead in his teams
hands. SD2K & Boom Boom overpowered
The Ballards, using their 130-pound
weight advantage. SD2K was unreal, when
he flipped over the top rope, and landed
on his feet (ala Jardi Frantz)...something
you almost never see someone almost
290-pounds doing! Big pop for that from
the great Pacifica show, maybe the best
move of the match!
For the next few minutes, Boom Boom
ripped, gauged, choked and poked his
way through Shane Ballard, who had been
taking a beating for the past five minutes
now. Cotello's team did a great job
of cutting the ring in half, and not
allowing The Ballards to make a tag.
Finally, Shane came up with a bulldog,
and was able to muster up enough energy
to make a hot tag to his brother Shannon.
He came in and cleaned house, and knocked
SD2K to the floor, his next mistake
was following him out there. Shannon
went for a rana from the apron to the
floor, but got caught by SD2K, and was
then powerbombed on the floor!!! A sick
thud rang throughout the auditorium,
and the whole crowd cringed when Shannon
hit the floor (then they chanted "Holy
Sh*t"). Meanwhile, back in the ring,
Boom Boom was in control, and locked
Shane Ballard in the "Camel Clutch",
his new-found finishing move. Ballard
could only hold on for a few seconds,
and tapped out, giving the win to Boom
Boom & Super Destroyer. The fans weren't
too pleased with the outcome of the
match, as Boom Boom prayed in the corner
to his "rug-o-prayer", and SD2K taunted
the Pacifica fans. No matter who the
tag champs are at the end of the night,
this is a team they are definitely going
to have to look out for. Winners: Super
Destroyer 2000 & Sheik Ali Boom Boom

-"Innovator" Vincenzo Massaro vs. Tommy
Blaze This was Vinny's first match without
his Internet Title in seven months.
He was now facing a young rookie who
has a lot of potential, Tommy Blaze.
The match started off slowly, with each
man trying to get a feel for each other.
Vinny worked on the arm, and then moved
to the head, but Tommy would reverse
it, and lock on an armbar of his own.
Massaro took the advantage when he caught
Blaze coming out of the corner with
a vicious belly-to-back suplex. It seemed
like Vinny had chose to work on the
head, as he hit a neckbreaker, and continued
to work on the upper half of the body.
A chinlock wore Blaze down, and aside
from a few punches here and there, Vinny
was in total control.
Until about six minutes into the match,
when Blaze nailed a russian legsweep
that put both men down, striving to
be the first to their feet. Blaze reached
his feet at the count of seven, and
nailed a couple of clotheslines. Blaze
was in control, and hit a belly-to-back
of his own, followed by a spinebuster
(only to manage a count of two). The
last couple of minutes was fast and
furious...Blaze missed a superkick when
Vinny ducked, Vinny spun around and
leveled Blaze with a spinning clothesline,
that totally took his head off! 1...2...3.
Vincenzo was victorious in a very good
match with the young Tommy Blaze. Winner:
Vincenzo Massaro in 8:47 ( * * * )
-"Kamikaze Kid" Jardi Frantz vs. "Bad
Boy" Boyce LeGrande (with Xtacy) Boyce
came to the ring and introduced everyone
in Pacifica to his new valet/girlfriend
Xtacy. He also let Robert Thompson know
that he hadn't heard the last of him,
and he has also been training very hard
for the King Of The Indies tournament,
taking place this October in Vallejo.
Jardi Frantz hit the ring, and the match
was ready to begin.
The fans were into this match pretty
good, both guys are exciting young wrestlers
with an uncanny amount of energy and
speed. Very good start to the match,
with each man sizing his opponent up,
and trying to take the early advantage.
Jardi excited the crowd with a split-legged
flip into an armdrag, as well as a few
nice hurricaranas. Even a brand new
sick looking submission hold by Jardi,
that tied Boyce up in knots. When Boyce
took control, he wowed the fans as well.
One of the best moves of the entire
night was Boyce's rolling vertical suplexes,
in which the third one, he turned into
a sitdown gordbuster...amazing! Lots
of near-falls followed this great action,
with Jardi getting a close 2 1/2 count
after hitting a top rope rana on LeGrande.
Once Boyce fell out of the ring, Frantz
took to the air, hitting a flip over
the cornerpost, and down onto the floor!
The fans popped big time for this, as
Jardi Frantz had lit up the whole arena
with his death-defying moves.
Back in the ring, a swinging DDT only
got a 2 1/2 count, as did a picture
perfect 450-splash! Frantz was on his
game tonight...but everything he dished
out, Boyce would come back from. Jardi
went for another top rope rana, but
Boyce held onto the ropes, and Jardi
flipped off the top, and landed on his
feet in the middle of the ring. This
set Boyce up perfect for the Bad Boy
Blockbuster! This may have been enough
to finish off Jardi, but Boyce wanted
to make sure he stayed down, and went
back up to the top rope. Boyce hit a
beautiful looking swanton bomb, and
covered Jardi for the 1...2...3. Winner:
Boyce LeGrande in 8:18 ( * * * 1/2)
-LeGrande/Frantz Aftermath... After
the match, LeGrande & Xtacy's celebration
was cut short when The Original Playaz
once again jumped in the ring. The tore
into both Jardi Frantz & Boyce LeGrande.
Bomber went after Boyce, hitting his
new finisher, the inverted fishermans
buster. The Playaz then tied Boyce up
in the ropes, and went after Xtacy!
Thankfully, Boyce was able to free himself
before the Playaz could put their hands
on her. Boyce got them away from her,
but took more of a beating himself,
as he was thrown through the air by
Tony Jones with an amazing german suplex.
They weren't done yet, as they hit the
Drive-By (yes, Thompson & LeGrande's
old finisher) on him. This team of Thompson,
Jones & Ripp are unstoppable! Just then,
The Snott Brothers ran to the ring to
make the save. They were able to put
up a fight with The Playaz, and keep
their attention off Boyce & Xtacy. As
the two of them went back to the dressing
room, it was announced that the tag
team championship match would happen
right now! The Playaz vs. The Snotts!!!
*APW Tag Team Championship* -The Original
Westside Playaz (with Jimmy Ripp) vs.
The Snott Brothers (with Betty Beefcake)
The Snotts took it to the Playaz in
the early minutes of the match, but
they wouldn't get very far. Seymour
got caught in a nasty side slam by Tony
Jones, and that totally changed the
momentum of the match. The Playaz were
now in control, and they were going
to be as ruthless and vicious as they
wanted to be. Thompson and Jones worked
well together, tagging in and out very
often, so neither man would get too
tired. Seymour was able to make a tag
to Big Peter, but The Playaz remained
in control, and used a few double teaming
tactics to keep the big man on the mat.
Totally amazing northern lights suplex
by Thompson on the 340-pound Peter Snott!
However, even more amazing was Tony
Jones, who hit an unreal top rope belly-to-belly
suplex on Peter! Totally unreal bump
by Peter, and an amazing show of strength
and ability by Tony. That was all she
wrote for The Snotts. Thompson hit the
frog-splash to put it away, and three
seconds later, The Original Playaz had
retained their tag team gold.
After the win, The Playaz rubbed it
in the faces of the fans that they are
the best team in APW today. All three
of them had something to say to any
team in APW who feels they deserve a
shot at the belts. The Pacifica fans
were hot tonight, as they chanted "Crack
Daddy" to Jimmy Ripp, who stayed in
the ring, even after Thompson & Jones
were long gone. This was a mistake,
as Jimmy Ripp's mouth got him in trouble
as usual. The Snotts came up from behind
and absolutely obliterated Ripp with
their briefcases! They nailed him so
hard, he was totally knocked out in
the middle of the ring. They dragged
him to the corner, and Betty Beefcake
gave the fans what they wanted to see...Biscuits
& Gravy! Ripp woke up just as Betty
was about to lower the boom. The fans
loved it as The Snotts & Betty got revenge
of Jimmy Ripp, but nonetheless, that
couldn't change the outcome of the title
match, Playaz win again. Winners: The
Original Westside Playaz in 5:22 ( *

*Battle Of The Giants* -"Big" Maxx
Justice (with Shane Dynasty) vs. "Next
Big Thing" Dalip Singh Dalip Singh is
quite a sight to behold. Amazing to
think anyone could look that big standing
next to Maxx Justice. I mean, have you
ever heard an entire arena do a "Holy
Sh*t" chant, just for a guy walking
to the ring?!?!?! Justice's body looks
the best i have ever seen it, and the
guy is definitely in the best shape
of his career. Maxx started off the
match trying to use his power, but that
would be no use, as Dalip simply shoved
the 300-pounder to the mat like he was
nothing. Dalip grabbed Justice and bodyslamed
him, getting a count of two. He was
in control now, and kicked and chopped
his way through Maxx. A big foot to
the face sent Justice to the floor,
running for cover. Shane Dynasty gave
him some advice on how to get Dalip
off his feet, while Justice stalled
for time outside the ring.
Justice caught Dalip leaning over the
ropes, and dropped his neck on them.
This opened up the door for him to take
control. Maxx used every ounce of strength
he had to chop and hammer on Dalip.
He used every dirty trick in the book,
from raking the eyes on the ropes, and
poking the giant's eyes with his fingers,
all the way down to the low-blow that
had Dalip doubled over in pain. Once
Maxx finally got Singh on his back,
he wanted to work on the leg. Justice
locked on a leglock, but Dalip quickly
escaped, and was back to his feet. This
giant is absolutely amazing! What a
great athlete and wrestler he is for
someone his size. Maxx Justice had never
faced a battle this big, but he wasn't
doing too bad. Justice clotheslined
Singh over the top rope, and down to
the floor. He then tossed him into the
guardrail, and sent the entire first
row of chairs toppling over! With Maxx's
strength and Dalip's size, they took
out the entire first row! Maxx rammed
Dalip's head into the steel pole and
then tossed him back in the ring. Justice
was going all out this time, and was
ready to put the match away. He climbed
the ropes, and perched himself on top...MOONSAULT!!!
But NO! Dalip moved out of the way,
and Justice caught a face full of canvas!
Dalip was back up, and he was on offense
now. The fans were behind him all the
way, and they cheered as he tossed Justice
around the ring. He tossed Maxx into
the buckle, but referee Mario Long got
caught between Justice and the corner.
Long was knocked out, and Justice hit
another low blown on Dalip. This was
the perfect opportunity for Shane Dynasty
to interfere, and that is just what
he did. Dynasty tossed an entire table
into the ring! Justice set it up, and
was going to try to put Dalip through
it! Mario Long was still knocked out,
as Dynasty hit Singh with a chair, but
it had no effect. Dalip grabbed Dynasty
by the throat and was going to chokeslam
him! Just then, Maxx grabbed the chair,
and nailed Dalip in the back...but even
that had no effect on the 7-footer.
Dalip let Dynasty go, and turned his
attention to Maxx. Dalip ripped the
steel chair out of Maxx's hands, but
just as referee Mario Long woke up,
Justice laid on the ground and acted
like he had been hit with the chair.
Long saw two things, Justice wiggling
on the ground in (mock) pain...and Dalip
holding the chair. Long called for the
bell, declaring that Dalip Singh had
been disqualified for using the chair
on Justice! This was outrageous! Singh
never even used the chair, but Mario
Long still DQ'ed him because of what
he thought he saw! The Pacifica fans
weren't happy with Mario's officiating
at all, and neither was Dalip. Justice
& Dynasty had outsmarted Dalip yet again.
Winner: Maxx Justice in 9:10 ( * * 1/2)
-Battle Of The Giants Aftermath...
Dalip Singh argued with Mario Long that
he didn't use the chair, but Mario had
already made his decision final. So,
Dalip decided that arguing with the
referee would get him nowhere, and decided
to go after Shane Dynasty. With the
table still set up in the ring, and
Maxx Justice doing his best to keep
his distance from the big man, Dalip
found it perfect to grab Dynasty by
the throat, and chokeslam him straight
to hell! SMASH!!! Dalip chokeslamed
Dynasty through the table, leaving a
huge mess of man and wood laying in
the middle of the ring. Maxx Justice
still wanted nothing to do with Dalip
now that their match was over with.
*Worldwide Internet Championship* -"Future
Legend" Donovan Morgan vs. "Black Nature
Boy" Scoot Andrews Scoot got the mic
before the match started, and totally
tore apart Pacifica, and the entire
state of California. Scoot is from Florida,
where he says they grow the best women.
Well, Donovan Morgan had something to
say about that..."Scoot Sucks". Donovan
started a huge "Scoot Sucks" chant,
which had Andrews even threatening to
leave the arena and not wrestle if the
didn't quiet down. This only got the
fans even more riled up, as they knew
that Scoot wouldn't blow his only chance
at winning the Internet Title over something
like that. This was a big match for
both men, but biggest for Scoot, who
is the underdog, out-of-town challenger.
The match got off to a slow start,
with Scoot trying to stall for time.
He was getting the Pacifica fans very
angry, but once he got going, they really
respect his wrestling ability. Scoot's
young and innovative style of wrestling
fits perfect with Donovan Morgan, making
them a great pair to have in the ring
against each other. Lots of reversals,
and lots of back and forth wrestling
between these two. When Scoot would
take control, he would work over Donovan's
left leg, trying to set him up for his
Figure Four finisher. Scoot stomped
away on the leg, wearing it down more
and more. Even going so far as to ram
it into the steel ringpost, and then
lock on a submission leglock. Donovan
was in obvious pain, but he was a fighting
champion, and wasn't going to give up
quite so easy. Scoot controlled the
match for a good seven minutes straight,
working the left leg of Donovan in every
way imaginable. Scoot even used a steel
chair on the knee of Morgan, once referee
Tom Castor wasn't looking. The fans
were rallying behind Donovan, and making
a lot of noise, cheering him on.
Finally, about thirteen minutes in,
Donovan caught Scoot on the top rope,
and came back with a big superplex that
put both men on the mat for a count
of six. It was Donovan who was the first
to his feet, and the fans were behind
him. Donovan used all of his energy
in his next sequence of moves. Belly-to-belly...backdrop...and
then the amazing inverted Last Rights,
which i have only seen Donovan do (not
sure what he calls this move). Donovan
got a count of two, and seemed frustrated
that he wasn't able to keep the challenger
down. Next came another one of Donovan's
finishers, the spinning fishermans neckbreaker,
but once again Scoot kicked out on 2
1/2. Donovan is becoming the new innovator
of wrestling, with all these new moves
he is using.
Scoot came back, hitting a powerbomb,
and then going right back to the left
leg of Donovan. This time, Donovan came
very close to tapping out, as you could
hear him screaming in agony. Scoot's
submission hold was almost too much
for Donovan to withstand, but he was
able to reach the ropes and escape.
Scoot back in control, shortarm clothesline...followed
by...THE FIGURE FOUR! Scoot Andrew's
finisher, the figure four leglock! Was
this it for Donovan?!?! No, he used
all the energy he had left to turn the
hold over, and force Scoot to release
the lock. Scoot went for the chicken
wing piledriver, but Donovan quickly
slipped out, and nailed one of his own!
Dumping the Black Nature Boy right on
top of his head! 1...2...3! Yes, Donovan
Morgan had won the match, and retained
the Internet Title! What a tough challenge
from Scoot Andrews. 4 star match all
the way, great overall battle of two
of the best in the indies today. Winner:
Donovan Morgan in 17:55 ( * * * * )
*APW Universal Championship* -"Ice
Pick" Vic Capri vs. "Natural One" Michael
Modest Before the match started, Modest
announced that he was dedicating the
match to the memory of the late Brian
Ong. The fans applauded Modest for this,
and the match was ready to go. The opening
period had both men feeling each other
out, both scoring a few takedowns on
each other. Modest worked over the arm
for a minute, and Capri did the same
once he took control. The next few minutes
were a great back and forth battle,
with not a dull moment at all. Modest
hit a sick looking downward spiral,
but Capri came back and took things
to the floor. Back in the ring, Capri
outdid Boyce's rolling suplexes from
earlier in the night, and hit some rolling
northern lights suplexes...but turning
the 3rd one into an X-Factor face slam.
This was a great match so far, definitely
what you would expect from Modest, maybe
one of his finest matches of the year.
Capri's potential is sky-high, as he
totally hung in there with Modest for
the whole match. His offensive ability
reminds me of Christopher Daniels, and
you know how good Modest matches up
with him. About nine minutes into the
grueling contest, Modest hit a great
fishermans superplex (from the 2nd rope!)...into
a pin...1...2...no...Capri kicked out,
and the match would continue. Back out
of the ring, Capri took things into
his own hands and got a little hardcore.
He nailed Modest in the back with a
couple chair shots. You could see how
much holding onto the APW Universal
Title meant to Capri, as he was doing
everything he could to keep Modest at
his mercy. Capri has this one great
combo, where he hits a flying knee drop,
rolls over to the opposite corner, bounces
onto the top rope, and hits a beautiful
moonsault...all in on motion! Total
thing of beauty! This got him a 2 1/2
count on the Natural One, and he was
back to the chair. Capri set up the
chair in the ropes, and went to hit
Modest's head into it, but he was met
with a back legsweep, and his own face
got rammed into the steel! The fans
chanted "Let's Go Modest", as Modest
hit a t-bone suplex on Capri...however,
being the fighter that he is, the champ
promptly got up, and hit a t-bone of
his own. But wait...Modest did the exact
same thing...and hit a 3rd t-bone suplex
in a row. This was amazingly followed
by a 4th t-bone suplex!!! Four consecutive
t-bones...what a great spot that was!
Both men were down on the mat...at
the count of nine, Modest springboarded
to his feet...but hurt his neck in the
process. Capri took advantage and pounded
away on Modest, getting a couple of
near falls. He went for a suplex, but
Modest escaped...ducked a clothesline...and
then caught Vic Capri in the B*tch Slap!!!
BAM! Modest slapped that B*tch, and
put Capri down for the 1...2...3!!!
Michael Modest had won the APW Universal
Title for the 5th time (tying Maxx Justice's
record). The title had come back home
to APW! What a great match by Modest
& Capri, one of the best matches all
year in APW. Winner: Michael Modest
in 13:18 to become the NEW APW UNIVERSAL
CHAMPION ( * * * * 1/2)
-Modest/Capri Aftermath... After the
match, Modest held his Brian Ong armband
high in the air, and yelled out "We
Did It". Modest dedicated his title
victory to Ong, and apologized that
Brian would never get a chance to know
what it was like to perform in front
of all the great APW fans. The fans
cheered for Modest's title victory,
and they cheered for the late Brian
Ong, who we all wish will rest in peace.
