My name is Mathew Simpson.

I was born on April 27, 1979 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada where I still live.

I have my B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba.

I work as a mechanical engineer at Smith Carter Architects & Engineers. I work on the design of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) for commercial or industrial buildings.

My engineering interests are mostly in the area of energy conservation and energy efficiency in the area of commercial and industrial buildings. I am particularly interested in innovative solutions for energy use including free cooling, heat recovery, and alternative energy sources.

I have been taking pictures all my life but have been seriously pursuing photography as a hobby for the last six or seven years.

Band photography is my main focus, but I also try my hand at street photography and was employed as the Photo Editor at the Manitoban for two years. So I've had a chance to try a little bit of sports and reportage photography (you can browse the archives for tons of examples of my work).

If you like anything you see on this site, let me know.

I'm pretty much into any kind of music. You might be able to get some inclination of my tastes from the artists I've photographed.

If you are in a band and want me to take pictures of you and you might reasonably expect me to enjoy the music you play, get in touch.

If you are in a band that I have photographed already and you want to use some of the photos from this site for your own purposes, let me know.
