Helmets

"If you have a $10 head,wear a $10 helmet"

Helmets:Are they necessary?? Absoloutely. In a gokart, the head is the most vulnerable part of the body and needs to be protected.Helmets are usually expensive pieces of equipment, and this is the main reason that riders don't use them, coupled with the fact that once a helmet has sustained an impact,it cannot be used again. As usual with most safety equipment,it is best to buy a good quality helmet such as 'bell' or 'cyber'.NEVER buy a second hand helmet unless it is new and has no visible cracks or dents. There are 2 main types of helmet. The best and most popular is the bell helmet made by the'bell' company. This type of helmet resembles a bell and covers the entire head with a transparent visor on the front. This is the type of helmet that is used by Formula:1 drivers as well as Drag drivers. The second type is the less expensive 'motocross' helmet. This type has a triangular piece that extends from the bottom of the helmet outwards as well as flap that extends from the top.Goggles are usualy worn with this type.It is worn mostly by motorcycle riders and sometimes jetski riders and gives a larger range of view. For more info on helmets and their prices,go to www.bellhelmets.com.In the meantime, check out the pix below.
