Who Are We?

The Local Ear was first established in 1999, the 1st printing came in 2001, then we then www doted in 2003.

As a child I was always taught to do unto others... as the bible states, in short treat people as you want to be treated. So when I began playing music I thought other musicians needed some of the same things I did, so if I made a web page why not share the wealth so to say. Help them out and in turn they will help me out. Treat them as I would like to be treated. So it all began as an effort to help out all the area musicians.

We are a newsletter that is sent out to our subscribers. We also have what we call our Audio-Magazine, that is a radio style program put on CD and sent out to those who subscribe.

The Local Ear was created and owned by: "Dangerous" Dougie Douglas. (AKA: Doug Harper)

Visit our page regular we update it often.

Mission Statement:

To make connections & build relationships with artistic people from the area, and as far as we can reach. We will communicate about their tallents to our Readers, Audio Magazine listners, Ear-Net-Junkies, & Sometimes just random strangers abroad. The general goal is to change our enviroment. We will do that by comunicating, about Music, Art, entertainment & end up speaking spiritualy. One of the most common mistakes is that artistic people don't understand Gods calling on thier lives, this type of talent is a big responsibility. Use it wisely.

History:

When this project all began it was called, N.L.M.B. which stood for Nevada's Local Music Buzz. Which was an attempt to create an underground community of musicians in the Nevada, Missouri area, that quickly changed to Vernon County area, and now we are in a multi-county area, including Vernon, Dade, Jasper, Greene & more Counties also. There was a need for more music and places for bands to play in our area back then. Growing up known as, A.M.P. alternative music productions, then known as Psychedelic Productions until finally it became known as N.L.M.B. The N.L.M.B. began a web page in 1999 to help keep folks updated on what was going on in the area. Now N.L.M.B. has became so much more. Basically the N.L.M.B. name was dropped when the Local Ear Newsletter came into effect, it started as just a printed version of the web page, when our page crashed. All the data was lost, so we went on with a new idea untill we re-built the web page. Now we are on the web full time with a bigger & better newsletter and more support. We now own a growing indie label called Purple Shed Records. We support A.M.G. a group that formed in our area, they work hard to support the local music as well as the C.C.P.A.,A.M.G. stands for the Acoustic Music Guild, and the C.C.P.A. stands for Community Council on Performing Arts. So things have already changed, and music in our area is growing to an all time high. Now it is time to get serious and take some bigger steps. Stay with us and you will see a difference.
