Great show this past weekend. We played at the Kitchen Pass in Joplin at a Battle of the Bands.

First we saw a classic-sounding rock band. They were very good and bluesy; all original tunes as well. The guitar player had a very dirty tone. They were tight and played a great set.

Next we watched an electronica/hardcore band. Very good at what they do, however, they were not very well received by this crowd. They seemed to have been better suited for a show at the Foundry.

Our set was very much anticipated, and we rocked the house for a good portion of the votes. We played all originals - Summer's Fading Into Fall, Black Widow, Ruin, and Modern Day. The crowd was eruptive after every song.

Our long-time friends and newly reformed band Cooper's Wishlist followed our set. Originally they had played most of their songs acoustically, but recently over the past few months they have been performing with a bass and drummer behind them. Their sound is much more full and they were very appealing to the audience.

A cover band followed, and fronting them was a very spirited and talented female singer. She led the band through several anthems, including Son of a Preacher Man and a Janis Joplin tune. Even better was the sax player behind them, belting out some fantastic solos.

Finally, Pit 42 took the stage, chugging through their set. They were gracing the stage with a new guitar player. He filled out their drop-tuned sound with massive amounts of crunch, and tore up some great solos.

Newsletter April 12 - April 18 '09

Recap of last weekend, April 10th and 11th:

As cold as it was in Jasper, there was still a great crowd that came out to support Tainted Angel's benefit show. They raised over $200 that evening.

On April 11th, we opened for Seasons After at Sidetrack's in Parsons, KS. We have played with them before in Wichita, and hopefully they will continue to be a driving metal influence in southwest MO and surrounding areas. We met up with some friends and had a great night!

Weekly Update - March 1-7 2009

Weekly Update - March 1-7 2009

If you missed Saturday's show at Nathan P. Murphy's, it's totally understandable. The sudden snow storms were
quite a surprise, and we even saw an overturned vehicle on Saturday. A few of our other friends ended up turning
back when they forsaw that I-44 was too difficult to travel on. Nonetheless, we still had a great show and the
house was packed.

First up was Armada. Their lead player was very good, and the singer had some pipes. You can probably find them
on Myspace if you are interested.
Next was Berlin Drop, and we're happy for all of you that came out to see us.
Following that was Bender, opening with Girls, Girls, Girls by the Crue. A very energetic band.
And closing the night was the newly-reformed Levee. They stole the show once again with their rock riffs and
Zeppelin covers. All these bands can be looked up on Myspace. Check them out, and write their show dates in your
calender.

BE SURE TO TUNE INTO 105.5 FM on MONDAY, MARCH 9th at 9 PM. DANGEROUS DOUG'S RADIO SHOW will be FEATURING BERLIN DROP.

Compilation Album
“Bands from the Back 40”
National Release Date
Tuesday September 19, 2006

This 10 track, 10 songs, Compilation is dedicated to the newest rising superstars, all from a small southwestern town know as Nevada, Missouri. The CD includes our very own Nashville beauty, Marci Mitchell, the Midwestern mavericks known as Baby Fingers, and the second coming of Bob Dylan, or as you may know him, the Beatnik Poet, Matthew Harper. The album also will include newcomer to the Missouri emo scene James McIntire, homegrown bluegrass by the Joneses, the band Worba, Seth Crawford’s ELSINORE, and none other than Americas favorite road dog and song guru, Dangerous Doug Harper.

The set list includes:

"Road Trip" an upbeat rockin’ country song, recorded in Nashville Tennessee as well as “Lovers to Friends” a soon to be top 40 country hit are both penned by Marci Mitchell, a Nevada Missouri girl, gone Nashville and current Lori Morgan keyboardist Mark Oliverius. You can get more info on her at www.marcimitchell.com. Track #2 "Cake and Ice Cream" is brought to you from ELSINORE, and project from Nevada, Missouri boy Seth Crawford in the style of early 1990‘s alternative radio hits such as Nirvana‘s “Polly“, and Weezer‘s “Undone the Sweater Song“, this is a fun song that you may find yourself listening to again and again. Matthew Harper fans have been waiting for some new recorded material since his last CD excitedly, but this time Matthew took more of a striped down acoustic solo take just like his ever popular live show. So many people were saying they wanted to hear that on a record he chose to include two song on the CD "Morning Guy" and “Long Haired Friend of Jesus” both written by Matthew. For more info check out his web page: www.matthewharper.ws. "Jezebel" the acoustic version has now became a household sing along around town artist: Baby Fingers, a project by Nathan Rorabaugh brings modern-rock and acoustic together in an all around ear pleasing hit for people of all ages. New Missouri emo child James McIntire bring you the Violent Fems meets Green Day up-tempo acoustic song about love, the song is titled "Right By Your Side" written and performed by James. Track #6 is titled "I Found Myself a Monkey" written and performed by: Dangerous Doug Harper and recorded live at the Snake River Canyon Jam near Rogerson Idaho. The fun song includes a guest appearance from Nathan Rorabaugh on lead guitar, and Monkey on electric rhythm guitar and backing vocals. Bob and Dawn Jones know on the album as the Joneses for obvious reasons, have many musical talents and love to play bluegrass gospel at their church Maranatha Christian Fellowship, and have jams at their home with friends. At home Bob has his home studio known as Head Level, and has recorded an entire album that you can listen to and, download for free at his web page www.headlevel.org. Last but defiantly not least is the progressive punk-rock ballad with drum solo, "Fall In" a song written about artist and writer, Aaron Rorabaugh’s girlfriend from Cottey College. His band Worba are planning to put the song on their upcoming full album release “Aliens”, the track also features his kid brother Nathan Rorabaugh on guitar as well. Topic: PRESS RELESE

This week marks the third week running that music enthusiasts of Vernon County have been enlightened with the new attraction added to our uptown-downtown nightlife.

Only two weeks ago a letter arrived at the Daylight Donuts and Coffeehouse 114 N Cedar street in Nevada, from ASCAP, an association of singers and songwriters, offering a license granting performance rights to over 20,000 songs. After graciously thanking ASCAP for their most generous offer, the Daylight Donuts & Coffeehouse decided to continue the music quest that began March 15, 1996. The passion that they breath into our community is to promote the original music from the wonderful touring singer/songwriters, and bands that flock through the city gates and right into the doors of Daylight.

Daylight Donuts & Coffeehouse is the one and only original music venue of Vernon County, now nationally and internationally known. Only after receiving notoriety in the Midwestern Artist, Venue, & Management Guide, distributed at the 2005 Grammy Awards, was Daylight brought to life. Now telephone calls, letters, and e-mails are nothing strange to daily routine at Daylight. Now many acclaimed musicians & bands plan trips to Daylight.

Last week a new group from the Branson music scene dropped in for a breath taking performance while on the last leg of their 2005 Midwestern Tour. Starrfadu now supporting their second album "A Narrow Road to Silence" made friends with all of the Coffeehouse regulars and a few new faces when they demonstrated their new blend of indie-sounds. "It can't be described as folk, but it's not quite country either," said Austin Hartley, lead singer, harmonica and acoustic guitarist for the band. Needless to say, the band had something for everyone from 5 to 65. Starrfadu's music has reached thousands and the band is now another of the many great, and nationally touring acts that have performed at the Daylight Donuts and Coffeehouse.

In the upcoming months, Daylight has her sights on a Nashville singer/songwriter, an all girl band from Australia, and a rock-based Christian worship group from Chicago, Illinois. In addition, our acoustic friend from Pennsylvania will return, as well as the Band Berlin Drop, scheduled to perform Saturday May 14, 2005.

If you would like to know more about the events at Daylight Donuts & Coffeehouse, you may stop in the shop, and get a free music schedule (while supplies last), also
Watch the Nevada News for listings and feel free to call the 24 hr. Concert Hotline at 684-1732, or visit the Local Ear we page at www.localear.tk at your convenience

Hey friends,

All we can say is WOW! This weekend was amazing with three awesome concerts where the volume at which we all worshipped together reached new heights. One of the most fascinating things in our travels this weekend would have to be the dancing of those that reside in Michigan City, IN. We were not entirely aware that people could move like that before this weekend. Any kind of dance move, you name it, these peeps out in Michigan City could throw it down. On top of that, they were all really LOUD. All in all, we consider this weekend a TOTAL success. That's not the end though. Not even close. The tour rolls on all year. We kick things back off Friday May 6th with a lock-in at St. Peter's Church of Christ in Frankfort, IL and then immediately the next day (May 7th) to The Hub in Oakland, IL. Continually check www.purevolume.com/christopherjordan for the most up to date tour schedule. You can also hear songs from the new CD there. We hope to see you ALL out on the r!
oad and
it goes without saying that it is only logical for anyone that has at least one ear that works, that they pick up a copy of "More of You". God bless!

Faithfully,
Christopher Jordan
