Already Seven Months!
Time goes by so fast!
7/9/03
To all my sisters out there, I'm so sorry it took so long to update my website! This has been a very trying past few months for me. I have since left a relationship that was doing nothing for me. I moved into my own place. I switched careers and am now in law enforcement! I graduated from the Police Academy in April. The only African American in my department I am proud to say! I am loving my new life and my new job! My son is happy and healthy and I couldn't ask for more!

This is me back in April at four months!
On my hair: I am still loving my sisterlocks! I get complimented on them all the time. The highlights that were in my hair before I got my hair locked are now really obvious and are drawing some nice attention! For some reason, the fuller and more locked my hair becomes, the more the color stands out.

Back in May I went to Rochester to meet Nijiyyah "Verna" Phillips who is a Cerified Sisterlocks Consultant and Certified Training Associate! She taught me how to retighten my own hair and she is wonderful! If you live up here in the Northern states I highly recommend her! My son has traditional locks and I also use what I learned to retighten his hair. He has straight hair and the Sisterlocks method seems to hold his locks in nice and tight!

Do you remember the picture from the first month of all the damage done to the back of my head? Well that is pretty much gone now! During the the second month, I started trimming my straight ends and by the third month, the damaged area was starting to really fill in! This picture was taken at the seventh month and if you compare it with the first month, you can really see how healthy my hair is getting! My hair is so unbelievably strong now!

The difference to me is amazing! From what you can see in the pictures, I do NOTHING to my hair! I wash my hair once a week with Dr. Bronner's Almond Soap and I retighten as needed. I don't follow a "set schedule" for retightening. I just feel around while I am watching TV to see what roots need to be done. I'm not sure if this is the preferred way, but it works for me!

To everyone that comes to my website and has patiently awaited updates, thank you so much! I hope I am an inspiration to anyone considering Sisterlocks. They are wonderful! And I promise to keep my site updated more often!

Here is a picture of my son enjoying the summer! Hope everyone has a wonderful summer!

Much Love, Yvonne
