Old Souls

Have you ever heard the term "old soul"? Many of you have and I'm sure many of you have either met one or have been referred to as one.
An "old soul" always seems to be wiser than people twice their age. Their minds always seem to be filled with thoughts and ideas that most people can only dream of. Though, "old souls" are hardly taken seriously because most of them seem too young to have such emotions and passion. But, have you ever thought about why an "old soul" actually does have such feelings and conceptions.
Many people say that it is because an "old soul" really is an old soul. A soul that has lived longer than the body it lives in. A soul that has seen many generations and centuries pass by.

Why do most people seem unhappy and depressed and try to find the little pleasures in life that they know will keep them sain and will mean everything in the world to them? Why do they have such introspective ideas and feelings that most people their own age can not conceive yet? Maybe it is because their soul has actually been through too many lives and seen too many wars and deaths. It has actually lived through too many hardships and heartbreaks. They know the importance of friendship and love long before anyone else. They also know how hard it is to find such things and hold on to it.
It is said that the soul can only remember the feelings and emotions of past lives. In very rare occasions will they see memories.

Why is a soul an "old soul"? What could possiblly be the reason for them to return? Some say that a powerful being is trying to purify souls before being allowed to pass. Others say that it is to experience life and learn through mistakes and tragedies.
Unfortunely, most old souls will lose their faith, end up in a state of depression, and therefore, will act out in violence and hatred or, end up taking there own life before knowing the true reason for being here.

When the body dies, the soul must be reborn so that they may start a fresh, new life. They most likely won't remember anything from the past and they never remember the time between death and being reborn.

Old souls usually don't know they are old souls until told so. Once they realize this, they'll know when they have met a soul that they have encountered in a previous life. They say it's just a feeling they get. Some even meet the soul that was their mother, father, brother, or sister in another life. They may even meet the soul they once loved long, long ago.

When an old soul does meet another old soul, the feelings of their past lives come back to them stronger then ever before. If the souls were very close to each other in the past they will actually see memories come back to them like flashes, either during the day or in dreams. The closer they were to the soul, the more vivid the memories. But this is very rare.

One more thing you may find interesting. They say that the one thing that never changes about the soul is their eyes.
