More 'Niagara falls' pictures

We travelled to Niagara on Sept 1, 2006 reaching the state park @ 7:30 PM. We had planned to witness the falls bathed in lights. Then, return the following day(9/2/06) to enjoy the remaining attractions. The evening was extremely wet and cold. Inspite of the incessant weather, there were quite a few dare-devils who had showed up on the high 'Observation tower'.

The following day too, the weather was not that inviting due to the after-effects of hurricane 'Ernesto' which had made landfall along the NC coasts 3 days ago and had travelled all the way up north until the Canadian border. The good part is, the rain had just about eased allowing the hordes of visitors to finally enjoy the location. The temperature was still a chill 54 deg farenhite.

Here is a panaromic view of the Horse shoe falls (part of Niagara falls) as viewed from the American side. Also seen in the picture is the Canadian territory as viewed from the US side. The enormous water haze is created by the millions of gallons of water crashing at the base of the falls !!

Niagara falls: Horshoe falls: American side.

We were simply thrilled to see the effect of lights on the mighty falls. This particular picture shows the 'American falls' bathed in white light..

The American falls illuminated by a Red/orange beam. The light show is performed by the Canadian authorities as can be seen from the direction of the light source

A close up of the 'American falls' bathed in Orange/red glow.

This one is my favorite. The far side of the falls was iluminated by a green light while the nearer one was bathed in a pink hue. The result was a scintillating effect which was unlike I had ever seen before !! Truely amazing !
