CHEESE AND CRACK WHORES s/t demo Good, hard, punk-rock-n-roll. Has it been missing, or is the poppifying of punk for radio mediocrity simply drowning out bands displaying its raw, rock roots? (Both?) Cheese and Crack Whores delivers with dual guitars what I would call feel-good, don't-give-a-sh!t rock music, happily without shiny production. While they mix in a few phrases about "killing and drilling in the name of economic growth" and materialism's potentially violent consequences, this band is not fighting for its right to speak. Rather, they assume that they can say whatever they want, without being compelled to preach. Rock 'n' Roll !!! It is the driving music that is central to this band. Hard, medium-to-fast paced rock-music occasionally gives way to cleaner rock with blues-rock lead guitar. This transition is may appear to be a let-down at first, but they quickly make up for it with cathartic single-string guitar work. The extensive use of the two guitars frees this band from the boring aspects of 3-chord rock, also working to create a "larger" sound. The soloing isn't bad at all, and completes the rockin' feel. Eager to fulfill your inner demon, Cheese and Crack Whores live up to their silly & offensive name on the singable chorus of track 9, entitled "Chorus": "I just want you to want me, I just want you to need me, I just want you to hold me, wrap your f---ing legs around me". This is a nice soundtrack for strutting down the street with an awkward smile on your face, or jumping on your bed and running into your walls, if you so desire. It's not incredibly fast, but some of these songs beg for the physical contact of listeners. This much said, I wouldn't mind seeing this band play live...
