The Arrivals Exsenator Orange Thick Records info@thickrecords.com The Arrivals offer a very plain and dirty rock sound with punk influence. This four-piece is a standard rock band, and their songs follow a standard sound pretty closely, sometimes leaning toward the faster stuff, but much more content with a formula of plainn rock songs with a certain noisiness in the guitar section. The drums really carry this band. For the most part, there is nothing expecially exciting about the changes from track to track. It is more of an exercise in tempo and rhythm changes with a droning guitar sound throughout. There is a break in "Sleeping In" where the bass is prominent, and this may well be the highlight of the album. More parts like this, with less guitar, would be welcome. Standout tracks would be "Shouting Fire", which features an interesting musical arrangement that could be translated in either heavier or softer directions and offers some hope for future recordings, and "Born With a Broken Heart", a faster cut of exciting punch and moodiness that seems to have earned its position as the second track. Basically, if you like the first two songs then you will probably lie the whole album unless you get bored with all the monotony before it is over.
