The Motion Cold Heroes Sad Loud America Records themotion@hotmail.com I just wanted it to be over. You can listen to it a few times to make it sound more familiar (the radio trick), but it just wasn't happening for me. I'm not denying their talent, it is just that I can't see anyone wanting to listen to this music for enjoyment (I sure don't). Except maybe hicks - I would say it has hick appeal, but I am not a hick so I guess I can't say. I just know I never want to hear that guy's voice again, especeially when he says "yeayah" in every song. The bass and lead can be pretty smooth, though, especially on "Still Running". This song also has some cool bell sounds, but fails to save the album. The guitar and bass seem processed, but what stands out through out is the constant guitar sound over flat rock drumming. "Flat" is a good way to describe this bands's sound. This is most likely the result of being a 3-piece. They seem to be striving for something higher, but they are limited by numbers and try to compensate by filling in the space with extra guitar. It just isn't working all the time. The result is a glossed-over, yet aversive flat sound. After thatr, one doesn't have much of a desire to look at the excessive lyrics. Indie rockers who make really bad music may actually find this enjoyable, but I'd rather just forget it.
