In the following links, you’ll find people and places and
projects… both near and far who have either helped, amazed, enriched, or
enlightened me. Sincerest hopes that they can do the same for you. Let’s start with some people who are creative inspirations. I
don’t always agree with these individuals, but I have great respect for their
talent. They are people so talented, that they are onto shining lights… in a
dimming age. Harlan Ellison is one of the greatest writers of our age. I
cannot say enough about his writing style, his passion, or his impact on half
a century of writing. The only easy equal to Harlan Ellison is Edgar Allen Poe,
like Poe Ellison defies easy classifications, he is the maker… of genres. And
like any man with the courage to speak on right, he makes his share of
enemies, is occasionally … wrong. That is the price of caring, really caring
about what is right. And thank god for a writer like Ellison, who is willing
to pay that price. He is what is best in writing. And his audio work, his
readings, are worth the hunting down. The above takes you to the website of Christopher Priest, one of
the best comic book writers, and an excellent writer period, who is very
self-effacing, and very funny. His BLACK PANTHER and QUANTUM AND WOODY
series, are required reading. Edgy, funny, beautiful, describes the best of
his work. He deftly weaves fantasy, sharp insight, and brilliant humor, into
works that speak in oddly wonderful, and relevant tones. Satire at its
finest. Also he happens to be a photographer, a web designer, a musician, and
a minister. A renaissance man. Music “Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast” or so the popular
platitude goes. If you love music, then do your part to save it. Say no to
the RIAA, which means saying no to morally and socially corrupt mega-companies
such as SONY. In other words, support alternatives to Sony, and their front, the
RIAA, which tries to maintain its monopoly by suing and intimidating its
customers. Similar to what the movie companies under the hood of MPAA , are
doing. Check these sites to save and enjoy the music:
We live in a brave new
world, where the rights of the artist, the individual, are very much under
siege by corporations… that want to own you. The above are Essential sites to
staying informed, and fighting
for your rights. Search Engines/Web
Directory. There’s far more than google out there. I’m not a fan of
burgeoning monopolies. Here are some nifty alternatives:
