Chapter Two : Daisuke

Ken placed the groceries in their rightful places as his mind stormed over the Tetris boy. I've never seen him before…but he did kiss me…why? I don't even know him that well. But he is kind of cute. Ken giggled on that last thought as he floated to his room.

"Minomon, are you awake?" Ken called as he opened his room door. There was no reply and Ken became worried. He looked on his bed and found the sheets cold. "He's been gone awhile. Minomon, where are you? If you're playing hide and seek this isn't funny! Minomon?" Ken asked as he searched frantically around his room. He glanced at his computer, it was still off. Even if it was on, Minomon wouldn't know how to open the digital gate. Ken became increasingly worried and he heard the door bell ring. Ken ran to his front door and opened it.

"Hi Ken!" Daisuke said as he waved at the wild eyed indigo haired boy. " I brought something for you." Daisuke continued as he stepped aside. On the floor stood Minomon blushing sheepishly as he looked at Ken.

"Minomon! I was going crazy looking for you. How did you get out?" Ken asked as he picked up his digimon and cuddled him to death. Minomon made an ouff sound as Ken squished him.

"I couldn't sleep so I went outside to the terrace and bounced off the walls to get outside. I stayed hidden in the bushes and waited for you to come back, but then your neighbor's dog came sniffing around so I tried to get into the elevator and then Daisuke found me and brought me here." Minomon said as he looked at Ken with puppy dog eyes.

"Thank you Daisuke." Ken said with a smile at his friend. Daisuke blushed and laughed it off.

"It's okay Ken. Do you mind if I come in?" Daisuke asked as he brought out Chibimon from his backpack. The blue digimon bounced happily and went inside.

"Sure, come on in. My folks won't be home till later." Ken said as he let Daisuke into his home. The leader of the digidestined stepped into the apartment and followed his digimon to Ken's room. Ken followed in tow and soon all four were in Ken's room.

"Wow, you have a great view from your room Ken." Daisuke asked as he opened the terrace door and stepped outside. Ken followed him and leaned against the railing, his eyes looking upward at the stars.

"It used to be Osamu and I's room, until he died." Ken replied as memories of his brother's broken and lifeless body replayed in his mind. Daisuke's eyes lowered and he put his arm around Ken.

"I'm sorry Ken. I didn't mean to bring up anything unpleasant." Daisuke replied as he smiled softly, his chocolate eyes rested atop Ken's head.

"It's okay. It doesn't hurt as much as it used to." Ken said with a soft smile.

"Ken, come inside. It's cold outside!" Minomon said as he jumped into Ken's arms, knocking Daisuke's arm off Ken. Daisuke glared at the green digimon and the digimon stuck out his tongue and glared at Ken. Ken's mine Daisuke. Back off.

I agree. Come on Daisuke." Ken said as he remained oblivious to the death glares passing between his two best friends. Daisuke sat on the floor as Chibimon tangled himself in Ken's sheets, laughing his head off.

"Minomon, play with Chibimon okay? I need to talk to Daisuke alone." Ken said with a smile as he patted his digimon and led Daisuke out of his room.

"Okay Ken." Minomon said in forced cheerfulness. Ken smiled and shut his door. After the door clicked indicating that it was closed, Minomon fumed like a caged animal.

"I can't believe it! How can I compete against Daisuke when I'm not Tetris" Minomon fumed as he bounced furiously back and forth in Ken's room. Chibimon's large red eyes stared at the smaller digimon.

"Whadya' mean human form Minomon?" Chibimon asked as he climbed down to the floor.

"You'll never understand Chibimon." Minomon said with a sigh as he came to a stop.

"Aww come on you can tell me what's bothering you." Chibimon said as he sat next to his friend. Minomon produced a jelly donut that he had hidden in case of an emergency. "Oh food!" Chibimon explained as his mouth watered for the treat.

"You can have it." Minomon said as he nudged the jelly donut towards Chibimon. The blue digimon eagerly ate the treat and Minomon went to Ken's door and pressed his ear against it to see if he could here what Ken was talking about.

"So what is it that you want to talk about Ken?" Daisuke asked as he and Ken sat side by side in the Ichijouji's living room, drinking bottles of Snapple. Ken sighed as he held his cold bottle in his hands.

"If I tell you, will you still, be my friend?" Ken asked as his violet eyes met chocolate depths. Daisuke nodded.

"Nothing can come between us Ken." Daisuke responded as he perked up.

"I went out today to get my mom groceries and I ran into this guy who's new in my neighborhood. His name is Tetris. He had red hair and beautiful blue eyes. He kind of bumped into me at the grocery store and so he helped me carry my things. Then he kissed me and ran off when I got home." Ken said as he blushed, his interest now wholly on his bottle of Snapple.

"He kissed you? A guy?" Daisuke asked as he tried not to think of murder plans for the boy who dared to flirt with his Ken.

"Dai-kun, I…I like guys." Ken whispered as his face grew hotter. He *knew * he shouldn't have told Daisuke.

"Ken, I couldn't be any happier." Daisuke said as he took Ken's Snapple bottle and placed it on the table along with his.

"You don't think I'm weird?" Ken asked in disbelief as he stared at his friend.

"Of course not. I wouldn't have it any other way." Daisuke replied as he took Ken's hands in his. " Because you see, I love you Ken." Daisuke whispered as he kissed Ken's hands, his smoldering chocolate gaze not leaving Ken's shocked violet orbs for a second.

"Dai-kun, I, I don't know what to say. I mean I like you too." Ken replied as he blushed. Daisuke smiled. Yes! One point for me, zero for Tetris, whoever the hell he is.

"It's okay Ken. I'm still going to win your heart. I'll fight that Tetris kid tooth and nail." Daisuke said as he took on the pose of a gladiator. Ken laughed.

"Then I wish you the best of luck. Tetris goes to my school." Ken said with a twinkle in his eye. Daisuke's jaw dropped.

"No way! Don't worry sweet Ken, I'll find a way to win." Daisuke said as he rose to his feet. Ken smiled, his whole face lit up. Maybe his life after the hell of the Kaizer wouldn't be so bad.

"It's getting kind off late Daisuke, you should go home." Ken said as he walked to his room. As he opened the door, he saw Chibimon asleep on the floor and Minomon looking through the glass on the terrace window.

"He's asleep. Oh well, makes it easier to take him home." Daisuke said as he picked up his digimon. "Bye Minomon." Daisuke called to the green digimon.

"Bye Daisuke." Minomon replied, trying to hide the tears in his eyes that threatened to echo in his voice. Ken led Daisuke out to the front door.

"I guess I'll see you tomorrow at the soccer match after school." Ken said with a smile.

"I'll be there. Bye Ken." Daisuke whispered. He wrapped his arms around Ken and gently pressed his lips against the indigo haired boy's own. Ken blushed but responded to the kiss, loving the warmth that Daisuke gave off. Daisuke pulled away, a dreamy look in his eyes and with a wave he departed.

Back in Ken's room, Minomon cried. I didn't hear anything from their conversation, but whatever they said, Ken sure looked happy. Who am I kidding, I can't win this. Minomon bounced his way into Ken's bed and went to sleep.

Ken shut the front door and headed to his room with a yawn. Half of his wanted to stay with Daisuke, and the other was rooting for the Tetris kid. Something about the soft cerulean eyes had pulled on Ken's heart strings and he somehow didn't want the red head to give up. He stepped into his room and found Minomon asleep.

"You always wait up for me. I guess you're tried. It has been a busy day." Ken said to no one in particular as he changed into his pjs and climbed into his bed. He snuggled against his sleeping digimon, his hands catching moist tears from Minomon's eyes. "I hope you're okay Minomon, you haven't really cried before." Ken whispered as he fell asleep.
