Separated

//I held a jewel in my fingers//

It was a quiet day in the gundam pilots current safe house, or, as quiet as it would ever get. WuFei sighed in appreciative wonder as he watched Duo babble on at Heero, the stoic pilot completely ignoring Duo's presence. WuFei held a terrible secret that he couldn't tell. This secret would make or break his heart.

"Oi Wu-man, is Heero crazy or what?" Duo asked as he abandoned annoying Heero and turned to the silent pilot.

"Bother someone else Maxwell." WuFei said, a growl in his throat never leaving him like he intended. He left the room, leaving Duo to gaze in confusion. WuFei pondered over his growing affection for Duo as he sat on his bed, his feet curled under him as he tried to read his book. He knew that there was no chance in the entire world and colonies that Duo could possibly love him and it hurt Shenlong's pilot deeply.

//And went to sleep//

WuFei pushed the pain out of his mind as he prepared for bed. He looked at his alarm clock and it read 1:34 am. He hadn't meant to stay up so late. He yawned as he slipped between his sheets. There was a timid knock at the door. WuFei rubbed his eyes and dragged himself over. He opened the door and managed to contain his surprise when he saw Duo standing there.

"What do you want?" WuFei asked somewhat tiredly, his struggles with his heart and mind making him loosen the tight leash that kept him from revealing his emotions.

"Wu-man, do you mind if I bunk with you for the night? Heero got pissed and threw me out." Duo said as he breezed in.

"Saa... You sleep on the bottom." WuFei said with a sleepy nod and shut the door. Duo smiled gratefully at him. WuFei smiled back, Duo catching those upturned lips as WuFei climbed unto the top bunk and soon drifted asleep. He awoke two hours later to quiet sobbing from the bunk below. WuFei cleared the sleep from his eyes.Duo, sobbing?

"Duo no baka, why are you crying?" WuFei asked as he got off his bed and sat next to Duo. Amethyst eyes looked at WuFei, sorrow in those colored depths.

"WuFei, Heero hates me doesn't he?" Duo asked as he sobbed gently. WuFei froze. He couldn't tell his secret.

"I don't think that he does Duo." WuFei said after a moment, carefully avoiding Duo's eyes.

"Is it possible for someone like you to love me?" Duo asked softly. WuFei blushed and was glad that the room was dark and the moon remained hidden in dark clouds.

"Everyone loves you Duo. But you can never love me…" WuFei said softly. Duo looked up. His eyes shone with some form of understanding in his eyes.

"Thank you WuFei." Duo replied as he squeezed WuFei's hand. WuFei squeezed back, his hope soaring into a blue sky as amethyst eyes met his. He hesitantly drew away from Duo and said a soft goodnight.

//The day was warm, and winds were prosy;//

WuFei awoke early the next morning as he always did for his morning exercises. He opened the window and a slight breeze ruffled his unbound hair. He put on his silk white pants and faced the rising sun. He lifted up his sword and began to dance with it, strokes cutting through the air as he fought invisible enemies, his eyes shut as he became absorbed in another world.

Duo awoke to the soft feel of cool air and increasing light from the window. He became still as he watched WuFei dance around the room, unbound hair like a long flowing black scarf that fanned along with the wind. WuFei ended his routine with a quick jab and a roundhouse kick. He opened his eyes, the obsidian depths shinning with contentment. Duo wondered how such a fierce fighter could look so beautiful and innocent all in one go. WuFei sensed his audience and blushed.

"Did you sleep well Maxwell?" WuFei asked as he replaced his sword and prepared to leave for his morning bath.

"Yes. Thank you for your kindness last night, I mean early this morning." Duo said as he noticed WuFei's blush. He was surprised at how easily he unnerved the other pilot.

"It was nothing." WuFei said as he departed quickly.

//I said: "Twill keep."//

WuFei smiled as he finished his shower. At breakfast, Duo asked if he could move into WuFei's room. WuFei obliged silently. Anything that would give him a chance to show how he felt for Duo even though the braided pilot would not return them was worth everything to WuFei. Duo always woke up late at night and talked to WuFei about anything under the moon. This pattern continued for several days.

//I woke and chid my honest fingers_ //

WuFei woke up one morning to begin his routine, his mood flitting in happiness that Duo would watch him. As he slid down the ladder, he noticed that Duo's bed was empty. He hadn't recalled the other pilot leaving for anything after their talk. Dread filled WuFei's heart.

//The gem was gone;//

Duo had left for a long time now. He touched the sheets, quite cold since no one had been occupying them. WuFei threw on a white shirt and ventured outside his room, searching for all signs of Duo, his secret weighing heavily in his heart.

//And now an amethyst remembrance
Is all I own.//

WuFei froze as he opened Heero's door. This would be the only place that Duo could be. His secret burst into bloom as he gazed into the room. He tore his eyes away from the sight and ran back into his room, locking his door behind him. He burst into tears as he fell to the floor, sobbing bitterly. Duo thought that everyone hated him and, WuFei assumed by the pilot's heated looks at Heero, he was madly in love with Heero since he had made it so painfully obvious.

The secret was; Heero loved him back… WuFei smiled through his tears as he remembered Duo's sweet sleeping face as he lay in Heero's arms. All I have, are my memories, never any room for hope, false or true, all I have, are memories…

The End? Or not?

Takeo - Oi. I hope you liked it Azn-chan ^_^;; Do you think that I should do a sequel?
WuFei - Maybe, we'll let the readers decide.
