Chapter Four : The True Nature of Duo

WuFei watched silently as Duo sped alongside him on their quiet journey into the Shinto Region. They had left Zechs back on Earth and instructed him to tell the others that all threats on Earth were being taken care of and they would return in ample time. Chubu Dragon was silent as she contemplated what she would send the rest of her energy into. WuFei already was strong enough; the Duo boy still gave her ancient bones a cold shiver and the Zechs boy had caught her attention. Something in his blue eyes gaze told her that he would always be there, to stop harm from touching her delicate dragonling. The emptiness of space pulled Duo's mind farther away from his soul, showing him things that he never thought existed, and then, a flash of black engulfed him, welcoming him to the death of darkness...

"We are here. Let me rest my dragonling. I leave you with my protection, even though you might not realize it." Chubu said as she floated towards the bright sun that called to her.

"Okaa-san, I will miss you." WuFei said as he touched the dragon's green mane.

"It is all right to feel sad. I will always be with you. Goodbye." Chubu said as she darted into the dancing rays of the Shinto Sun. WuFei bowed his head for a moment, solitary tears sliding down his cheeks.

"Don't worry WuFei. She is back were she belongs. Let's go home." Duo said as he wrapped his arms around WuFei. WuFei shuddered at the coldness in Duo's touch.

"Duo, do you feel okay?" WuFei asked as he drew away from Duo, noticing that those violet orbs were even darker.

"I.... I'm not sure." Duo said as he leaned heavily against WuFei, perspiration pouring down his brows. WuFei wrapped an arm around Duo's waist and hurried back to Earth, his confusion well hidden.

Zechs sat in his room, watching the early morning sun rise. Everyone was still asleep after last night's events. The platinum blonde shifted in his bed, blue eyes closed as thoughts and emotions ran through him. He winced over his latest heartbreak. It was pretty obvious that Hilde likes Sally...I guess that all that time that they spent on Aeolia...they got to know each other...I'm glad in a way that she rejected me...I have no fear in seeing Relena's angry face. Ah, gods...when will I be given the chance to be happy? Zechs sat up in his bed as the sun's waking rays disappeared and time seemed to stand still. He saw a winged being pass through the clouds, holding a human in its arms. Zechs blinked and the sun's rays appeared again. What the hell?

WuFei looked around, all the blues and greens mixing into one form. Where am I? I need someone to help Duo...Chubu... WuFei's eyes widened as his mind connected with another's, guiding him to the Sanc Kingdom like a lighthouse on a rocky cliff in stormy weather. Zechs sat upright in his bed, someone's mind latched unto his, using him like a lifeline. What, what is this feeling? Zechs watched as the winged creature approached at an incredible speed and smiling at the window was WuFei. WuFei breezed into the open window, a look on relief on his face.

"I'm sorry for waking you up, but, something's wrong with Duo. Please help me." WuFei asked, not noticing the state of undress that the young prince was in. Zechs gazed with wonder at the boy, his hair all loose, white wings slowly disappearing and a tired smile on his elegant features. He hurriedly put a coat on and helped Duo into his bed.

"He has a fever that's all." Zechs said as he pressed his cool fingers to Duo's forehead.

 "Somehow, I don't think so." WuFei said as he kept velvet eyes trained on Duo. Zechs nodded.

"Let us leave him here to rest. You look like you need a pretty long bath." Zechs said as he ushered WuFei, an urge to remove WuFei from Duo's presence. WuFei complied and followed Zechs outside of his room.

"Thank you very much. Do you know where I can take a bath? I'm tired and I want to discover this planet, with your help of course." WuFei said as he smiled at Zechs. Zechs simply nodded, not trusting his voice.

Duo struggled against the sheets, smiling in his sleep as he ripped them, his body running with a strange energy. Violet orbs flickered open and they were completely black. Duo rose, with a devious smile, catching his reflection against a mirror. He smiled and touched the mirror, his hand passing through it. He smirked and he entered the mirror, with one thought on his mind.... Should be fun to finally be awakened in such a dark soul. The Shadows have been good to anchor me to this place...and now, the Ryujinbito must be mine to control or I'll never be at my full power. And such a lovely one too... too bad this boy and body loves him...

WuFei sighed as he sank thankfully into the hot bath, the ache in his shoulders leaving him. He blushed as he felt blue eyes watch him from another corner of the large bathroom. Zechs ducked as obsidian eyes made contact with his, making his heart drum loudly in his ears. WuFei looked up as he sank into the warm water, the whole room looking steamy. I have never felt so relaxed in my life. Maybe someday, Aeolia might be reborn again. One can never know the stars.... WuFei thought seriously about Duo. Do I love him? I know that I do and he loves me too. I'll do my best, to say this to him...maybe...he won't hate me after all...

"WuFei?" Zechs asked from his own bath.

"Yes Zechs?" WuFei replied as he brushes wet bangs from his face and faced the prince across the room.

"Your wings.... Why did that Dragon say that people hated you?" Zechs asked.

"Well, people who live in fear of something hate and resent it. My family happened to be the target for their anger and hatred, and I'm the only one left. You have to understand that I can't have people seeing my wings. They'll talk and people who know of my family will have a price on my head. You won't tell will you?" WuFei asked.

"Of course not. WuFei, I'll protect you from all danger. I promise as the joint ruler of this Earth, and as a friend." Zechs said with a smile.

"Thank you." WuFei said quietly, assured in this promise. After the two finished their baths, Zechs lead WuFei to the dressing room were the platinum blond leader gave WuFei a suit like his, much like what the other princes wore and on rare occasions, Relena herself. WuFei studied his reflection, pleased that he looked presentable. He blushed as he watched Zechs brush out his long hair, seemingly pleased in his slow rhythmic motions. There was a knock at the door and a sleepy Dorothy walked in.

"Morning gentlemen." Dorothy said, twirling a forked eyebrow.

"Good morning Dorothy. You're awake?" WuFei asked as he focused his attention o the yawning girl.

"Glad to see that you're in one piece WuFei. Duo is just all over the place as usual. Happy morning people, how evil." Dorothy said as she waved to Zechs and went out. Zechs and WuFei exchanged a look of surprise.

"Let's go and find Duo." Zechs said. WuFei nodded in agreement and they left in different directions. WuFei walked down the almost empty hallways, meeting a few servants but no signs of Duo. WuFei soon exited the palace and found himself in a rather large garden. He noticed a figure in an outfit like his, a long brown braid down his back.

"Duo, you're awake!" WuFei called as he ran over to where Duo was. Duo looked up, violet orbs sparkling softly.

"WuFei." Duo replied as the velvet eyed boy reached his side and sat next to him.

"Duo, has your fever gone down?" WuFei asked as he pressed his hand to Duo's forehead.

"Yes. I woke up and I was in a bath. Funny thing, I don't remember getting up after you left me in Zechs's bed. Why did you leave me all alone?" Duo asked as he peered into velvet eyes. WuFei shook his head and took Duo's hand in his.

"I didn't leave you. I went to take a bath, and so did you. I'm here now." WuFei said with a gentle smile. Duo leaned closer to WuFei, trailing his lips down WuFei's chin.

"Ai shiteru. I know that you can't say that you don't feel it too Fei." Duo said as his lips drew closer to WuFei's. WuFei nodded.

"Wo ai ni Du-chan. I have a lot to learn." WuFei said as his eyes met Duo's. Duo smiled and he engaged WuFei's lips in a kiss, savoring the warm cavern that was his. Mine, he's all mine... WuFei whimpered softly as Duo plundered his mouth, drawing him even closer. Duo smiled as he pulled away from WuFei, running a hand down WuFei's cheek, almond eyes staring at him in a loving manner.

"I'll show you everything that I can." Duo said as he drew WuFei in for another kiss...

Zechs felt his senses light on fire as he ran into the garden, coming to a halt as he saw WuFei and Duo engaged in a kiss. I shouldn't be here... but yet, he stayed and the pain in his heart increased. Zechs questioned his own reaction to seeing WuFei like this. I don't even know the guy. This is stupid...I have to go... Zechs retreated quietly, and waited at the garden entrance. Sure enough, WuFei and Duo came strolling arm in arm up the stairs, Duo laughing.

"Hi Zechs!" Duo said as he caught sight of the platinum blond man. Zechs smiled weakly.

"Duo. Nice to see you up. You're feeling better I suppose?" Zechs asked as all three of them walked down the hallway.

"With Fei, I'll always feel better." Duo said with a grin as he squeezed the slender hand in his. WuFei blushed as he returned the squeeze.

The day wore on with no major activity. WuFei told Relena that Chubu Dragon was gone and wouldn't be returning, not mentioning anything about his wings, neither did Duo nor Zechs. Zechs forced himself to sleep at night, his sleep laden with comforting dreams that contained all that he had seen the previous day at Mt.Fuji. He understood why Duo was infatuated with WuFei...all that beauty and innocence and power...yes, he understood it all, those delicate features and endless obsidian eyes...

WuFei stood in a room provided for him, the prince from Aeolia extremely thankful for the Queen's kindness. He was to stay in the Sanc Kingdom and offer his knowledge of space which he would gladly share. He undressed quickly and slid into the warm sheets, Duo's kiss on his lips still a warm memory. As velvet eyes closed, black eyes peered into WuFei's room and a body eased through the marble walls, grinning. Duo smiled as he saw WuFei sleepily peacefully. He brushed back a stray lock of hair from WuFei's face and kissed the pouty lips. Duo chose well...but as Shingami, I can't allow him to rule this body when I possess it, but this boy will have to suffer, after all...everyone is supposed to hate him and hate they will...
