3-9-02 Going into the show with a stacked card, Dead & Bloated had money written all over it as the AWA's third SuperCard left most viewers in awe for three straight hours. Every wrestler on the card turned in a magnificent performance as fans watched in suspense during the Verboncour/Suggs encounter, disgust during the Bastardos/Masters street fight, and shock during the HaZe/Mandrake battle. Despite a slew of incredible performances beforehand, the ladder match in the main event stole the show. The Enlightened One and the Kill Devil Hills Daredevil put their bodies, hearts, and souls on the line and the result was breathtaking, even with the post-match happenings. The Atlantic Wrestling Association returns to it's home state of Virginia to invade the Salem Civic Center once again. There will be a skeleton crew on hand as the majority of the wrestlers performing at Dead & Bloated are severely banged up. However, this will give many mid-carders their chance to shine in the spotlight. |
The following is an AWA injury report: Jerry Verboncour - Eight stitches in the forehead. P.O.D. - Two broken ribs, three cracked ribs, bruised left kidney. Machine - Six stitches in the shoulder. Alice Loysell - Minor concussion. Steve Zapf - Bruised ribs, swollen right elbow, hyper-extended right knee. Nyghtmare - Thirty-two stitches in the forehead. Richard Cormier - Ten stitches in the forehead. Mandrake - Broken nose, concussion, internal bleeding, two broken ribs, two cracked ribs, swollen testicle, dislocated shoulder. HaZe - Four cracked ribs, broken rib, internal bleeding, sprained knee. Many of the wrestlers listed above will not be competing at Riptide this Thursday as they've been given some MUCH needed time off to heal their injuries. ~Daniel Brooks |
3-4-02 Dead & Bloated, the AWA's third SuperCard of the year, is only a few weeks away. Tickets to the event, which is scheduled to take place at the newly remodeled Atlantic Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, are already sold out. Many "insiders" are claiming that this will be the AWA's best show yet, with a rumored main event of HaZe and Mandrake locking horns in a ladder match with both titles on the line. Richard Cormier is making headlines again as he's very close to launching his very own television station out of Norfolk, Virgina. The station will broadcast throughout most of the Eastern U.S. and will carry all of the promotion's televised shows, including all of the monthly SuperCards. |
It's being reported that James Nightbane, a notorious practical joker, had planned on mixing Viagra into Machine's medication before Outshined with hopes of giving the giant German a massive erection during their match. When asked about this, Nightbane claimed he was indeed going to do this, but sadly, his supply of Viagra ran out before the tactic could be employed. William Ian Dillinger, a newcomer to the AWA, has really stirred up some controversy with the debut promo that he cut. Many claim he went over the line, and that he is psychotic, even though he's never been to any of the AWA shows as of yet and nobody has actually seen him in person. This eccentric individual will get his chance to shine as he takes on Mandrake, one of the AWA's top dogs, this Thursday at Riptide. ~Daniel Brooks |
2-20-02 Outshined proved to be an incredible SuperCard. Men were battered, beaten, and even burned! Injuries, suspensions, and the like are plaguing the AWA as of late, as the roster is beginning to look more like a skeleton crew. At Outshined, we saw the debut of a Damn Fine Man as he retired Rusty in a casket match. Mandrake pulled out an impressive victory against Pest in an unbelievable ladder match for the Atlantic Championship. Brothers P.O.D. and Pyro-Maniac set each other on fire in an incredible First Blaze Match. The Bastardos were up to their old shenanigans backstage, and still managed to defend their titles against an Army of Two. |
James Nightbane and Machine tore the house down with an awesome Hardcore match. After the match, Nightbane did the unthinkable and actually KIDNAPPED the big German. In the main event, Nyghtmare and HaZe had a great match, but HaZe obtained the victory through questionable means. Richard Cormier and HaZe attempted to take out Kartier for good post-match, but Mandrake was there to make the save. The upcoming Riptide features an average card at best, save the two final matches of the night. James Nightbane and Nyghtmare will be competing in a grudge match as the Atlantic Champion, Mandrake, will take on the Enlightened One, HaZe, for his Heavyweight Championship. With Pyro-Maniac and Machine out of action, the Brotherhood of the New Lights is down to only HaZe, Richard Cormier, and Viktor Krauser. Who'll be there to bail HaZe out when Mandrake gets his hands on him? ~Daniel Brooks |
2-4-02 Plots thicken, tension between wrestlers increases, and nobody knows who to trust as the AWA's second SuperCard, Outshined, approaches. The Atlantic Wrestling superstars return to the Atlantic Arena in Virgina to blow the roof off the place! All three championships will be on the line, along with a few feuds coming to a head, and you can bet that Cormier will have a trick or two up his sleeve. The upcoming Riptide has a card line-up that looks to put all previous Riptides to shame. Matches include a #1 contender ladder match, a dual championship tornado match with the Atlantic and Tag Team Championships on the line. In the main event, Corleone takes on Heavyweight Champion HaZe in a Lumberjack match. This will be one Riptide you definitely won't want to miss! |
The following is information I've gained from an insider who wishes to go by the name of "The Baron": -Rumors have been circulating that "The Phenom" Billy Sadistic is going to show up at AWA Outshined. What his intentions are and who he'll align himself with are unknown. -Executive sources claim that AWA owner Richard Cormier has been speaking with SWF fedhead Rayn Crisman about possibly combining companies into one giant federation. Details are sketchy right now. More information on this as it becomes available. -The AWA Creative Team has been throwing around the idea of creating a Lightweight or Extreme Championship. Due to recent roster additions, the idea of a new title may not be too far-fetched. -It's been said that the AWA has been in contract negotiations with Elite Wrestling Federation great "The Greek God" Pat Gordon. Sources suggest that Gordon would be able to make his return as soon as the February 14th Riptide. -Information pertaining to a "new" match has leaked from a Creative Team meeting. Sources say that the AWA is going to borrow a match from the now defunct Elite Wrestling Federation, and that match is none other than the K2 Death Match. This match is rumored to take place at the upcoming SuperCard, Outshined! ~Daniel Brooks |
1-22-02 On the last Riptide, HaZe pulled the rug out from under the AWA when he, along with Richard Cormier and Pyro-Maniac, banned together to form the Brotherhood of the New Lights. The Brotherhood came to a head at Undertow when HaZe captured the Heavyweight Championship. The Brotherhood of the New Lights left nothing but carnage throughout the broadcast with help from new additions Machine and James Nightbane. With the AWA at the mercy of the Brotherhood, who will step forward and make a stand? Then again, who'll be the next to succumb to the influence of Enlightenment? |
The Atlantic Wrestling Association has completed it's tour of Virginia, and is now set to invade North Carolina, starting with Hillside High School in Durham. ~Daniel Brooks |
1-12-02 Cormier's plans to sign a twelve show deal with NBC/KTVZ Channel 12 are no more! After an unexpected visit by the AWA's NyGhtMaRe, the live signing turned to chaos. In turn, Cormier was unable to sign his contract, and NBC executives have retracted their offer. NyGhtMaRe's actions have not made him very popular with AWA management and superstars alike. On another note, construction crews are putting the final touches on the Atlantic Arena, located in Norfolk, Virginia. If all goes as planned, Cormier will be holding the AWA's monthly SuperCard in the newly furnished arena on Monday, January 21st. |
The Atlantic Arena is built with a 12,600 seat capacity, and Cormier plans on filling every single one of them on the 21st when the AWA will present its first ever SuperCard, Undertow! Cormier has promised that on the SuperCard, all three AWA Championships will be up for grabs, in addition to a four-man invitational tournament to decide the "King of the Rungs". Don't miss this one, because this will be a show you won't soon forget. ~Daniel Brooks |
1-5-02 As reported earlier, Richard Cormier has been in serious negotiations with NBC and their fledgling station, KTVZ Channel 12. Both parties have come to an agreement, and contract signing is set to take place Thursday night, January 10th. Inside sources claim that Cormier is very excited about the twelve show deal, and plans on having a live camera crew on hand to document the event. In other news, last week's Riptide was filled with injuries galore. Injuries are taking their toll on the AWA Superstars, and a few have been placed on the injured reserve list. |
The following is a list of those injured, and their injuries: Willis Clayton - During his match with Kris Kartier (A.K.A NyGhtMaRe), Clayton suffered tissue damage to his throat, two bruised ribs, three cracked ribs, and a badly broken leg that will require surgery to repair. No return date has been given at this time. Corleone - After Corleone's win over Steve Zapf in record time, the Italian felt the wrath of an attack at the hands of Jolly Roger. A glass bottle was broken over the back of Corleone's head, leaving a short, deep gash. The cut required thirteen stitches to close up. Corleone is not expected to miss any action. HaZe - HaZe suffered some minor cartilage damage and a severely sprained knee when he was viciously assaulted by Griffin Youngblood during their match at Riptide. HaZe is expected to miss a week of action so that he can allow the injury time to heal. Sheldon Grimes - On his first night on the job, Grimes was the victim of a NyGhtMaRe attack in which his head was smashed through a plate of glass. Grimes suffered several cuts and lacerations about his head, face, and neck, few of which required stitches. Grimes is expected to return to duty in two weeks time. ~Daniel Brooks |
12-30-01 At the AWA's first ever Riptide, fans witnessed brutal injury, suspension, and the crowning of the very first Atlantic Champion. All in all, it was a decent show, but fans should look forward to next week, where the AWA will be invading the Mount Vernon High School Gymnasium. Sources close to Cormier indicate that the owner of the AWA has poured a substantial sum of money into purchasing new broadcast equipment and hiring a few extra cameramen, as well as a new reporter. |
Cormier has set the stage for an eight-man single elimination tournament to decide the AWA Heavyweight Champion. The first round of the tourney is scheduled to begin at the upcoming Riptide, which will take place in Alexandria, Virginia at the Mount Vernon High School Gymnasium. The AWA is expecting a sellout crowd, as over 90% of the tickets have already been sold. In other news, Richard Cormier has been in serious negotiations with KTVZ Channel 12, the NBC affiliate for most parts of Virginia. Cormier has refused to comment on the status of the current situation, but inside sources state that Cormier is very close to signing a twelve show deal with the company. If all goes well, the AWA will air on Thursday nights at either 11:00 p.m. or midnight. ~Daniel Brooks |
12-17-01 Richard Cormier, co-owner and founder of the overseas computer conglomerate known as Euro-Tech, has finalized the creation of his newest brainchild, the Atlantic Wrestling Federation. The AWA will be based out of Norfolk, Virginia, where Cormier already has a small arena under construction. The AWA is a regional independant organization, and will be touring the surrounding states, such as Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Cormier already has a card, Riptide, slated to take place on Thursday, December 27th. |
The AWA's first event will take place in the gymnasium of Denbigh High School, located in Newport News, Virginia. Cormier apparently has big plans for the AWA's debut as he's scheduled an invitational battle royal to decide the first ever Atlantic Champion. It's also rumored that Cormier has been discussing a possible Heavyweight Championship tournament, which he plans on starting at Riptide. The following statement was taken from Mr. Cormier at a recent press conference: "After creating the incredibly successful Euro-Tech computer manufacturing corporation over in Europe, I've decided to return to the States in search of increased profits. Nowadays, professional wrestling seems to be where the money is, so I've started my own wrestling organization. I've already negotiated contracts with several well-known superstars from across the U.S., and if all goes as planned, the AWA will become a national powerhouse in a couple of years." ~Daniel Brooks |
