Roque – I’m Roque with E-Clips and I’m here with the guys from Sweetsalt. How are you guys doing? Would you mind letting us know who you are and what instrument you play?
Sam – My name is Sam Dufour and I play drums.
Ben – My name is Ben Reynolds. I sing and play guitar.
Jared – I’m Jared Robinson and I do bass guitar and background vocals.
Roque – So you guys have a single that’s on the radio, could you let us knw what it’s all about?
Ben – It’s called “April”. It’s a song about a girl who never sticks around. That’s it.
Roque – True story?
Ben – Well, it’s a compilation of a few sad stories that I have to tell.
Jared – She hurt me! No one named April, that’s for sure.
Ben – That’s cheesy! No writing songs about people who actually exist, that’s wrong.
Roque – Now, you guys aren’t from Regina. You’re from Caronport, is that correct?
Ben – Yes.
Roque – So what’s the scene like there? Is there a scene?
Ben – No..
Sam – Yes. Well, there is and there isn’t. I think there wasn’t probably a few years ago, but then we started and another band out in Caronport, downhere, got signed to an American label and they’re doing big things now. So there wasn’t much of a scene, but now it seems that if you count two successful bands… well, humbly successful bands…
Ben – And a successful studio.
Sam - … then yeah, we sort of created a scene where there was none.
Roque – Do you guys have anything planned in the near future in terms of touring Canada and getting your stuff heard?
Ben – We just started working with a radio tracker, so we’re going to have our first single “April”, which is already pretty big in Regina, we’ll have it pushed nationally, and then we’re just gonna keep on going across the country. Play, play, play, play, play.
Jared – Around the world! Take over the world, one country at a time.
Roque – You heard it here, folks! Sweetsalt’s taking over the world! So where did you guys record your single? Do you have a full length disc?
Ben – Actually, we have a full album. The album was recorded in Winnipeg at Dacapo Productions. Our producer’s name is Olaf Pyttlik, he’s a big German guy, great guy. We just got together and started recording some songs and it really clicked so we kept going and put out a 12 track CD, and now it is rising the charts.
Roque – So the people out there watching who have seen you out there playing, how would they be able to get ahold of your disc?
Ben – Flatlandmusic.com is probably the easiest way, but you can find it in a few scattered stores here and there. Probably checking sweetsalt.com would be the other place to get it from.
