Precious Lucy is known
across Canada and in parts of the United
States as one of the best independent
wrestlers on the scene today, male or
female. Learning to wrestle on a cement
floor, Lucy has gained a toughness that
has helped her through the tough Canadian
independent scene. With her hardcore
style and insistence on only wrestling
men, Lucy has made an impact on Canadian
and American wrestling that will be
felt for yeas to come. Today, Lucy answers
the fans questions regarding how
she got in to wrestling, what her family
thinks of her wrestling, her feelings
on womens wrestling, and more.
Height: 53
Weight 133 pounds
Hometown: Montreal, Québec
Pro Debut: June 27, 1997
Signature Moves: Diving Star and Hurricanrana
from the top rope
When did you decide that you wanted
to become a wrestler?
***There are many things that interested
me in becoming a pro wrestler like the
show aspect, psychology and mystery
of the wrestling world but the main
reason was certainly challenge.
How and when did you first get in to
wrestling?
*** Being a little tomboy, almost all
my friends were guys and few of them
had subscribed to a wrestling school
in my hometown. I decided to check it
out and everybody seemed not too sure
about me joining in. They were saying
that this was not for me and that classes
would be very hard. I wanted to prove
them wrong and I guess I did since Im
the only student who is still wrestling
today.
What did your family think of your decision
to become a wrestler?
***At the beginning, my mom really
thought that this was too marginal,
that being a wrestler was an unreal
situation so she was basically against
it and for a long time. She didnt
like the fact that I was the only girl
involved and she was scared that I might
get injured seriously. My stepfather
was totally against it; according to
him, I was crazy and it was not a place
to be for a girl.
Does your family support your hardcore
in-ring style of wrestling?
***Today, my mom thinks that Im
really courageous to go through so much
danger and pain but again, shes
really scared of injuries and also scars
that hardcore wrestling leaves on my
body. She doesnt want me to mess
up my face with barbwire or a bad chair
shot.
Which former or present wrestlers have
inspired you the most in your wrestling
career?
***In the way he was and in the way
he wrestled, Owen Hart will always be
inspiring to me. Im glad I was
able to know him personally for few
years and learn a lot from him.
What has been your favourite wrestling
match that you have ever competed in?
***I really liked the triple-threat
table deathmatch I had back in March
against Scream and 6 foot 4 monster,
Jason
But man, was I a total mess!
I also really enjoyed my recent match
against Ruffy Silverstein because every
time I was doing a move, even lifting
my hand, the crowd was going nuts and
it was very technical!
What is your favourite match that you
have seen that you did not compete?
***Owen Hart VS Bret Hart at Wrestlemania
X is my all-time favorite. Cant
get enough of that awesome match. Perfect
technical wrestling.
What is one match that you would like
to see, including past or present performers?
***Right now, I think that wrestling
is so bad that I cant even answer
that question.
What is your dream match for you to
compete in?
***Hell in the Cell with all kind of
stuff inside the cage.
What is your opinion on performance-enhancing
drugs and the role they play in professional
wrestling?
***I rather not judge what other people
do with their bodies. Its their
decision if they want to use performance-enhancing
drugs or not.
Other than yourself, who do you think
is currently the best independent wrestler
in Canada?
***Showtime Eric Young.
He was everything: looks, stamina, and
as good as a high-flying wrestler than
a technical wrestler. I wouldnt
say myself anyway! LOL
What suggestions do you have for people
who are trying to get in to wrestling?
******Savio Vega once told me its
a beautiful sport, but the business
sucks. And he was right. You get
screwed many, many times. There is a
lot of jealousy involved and too many
rumors. You just cant believe
how often I heard oh, she has
a great career or she got there by sleeping
with somebody. People are accusing
anybody of anything when they want you
out of this business. There are a lot
of bad people involved in wrestling
unfortunately. So they only advice I
can give is, do this for yourself and
dont expect too much from that
business because you will be really
disappointed.
Why did you decide to only wrestle men?
***First of all, it was really hard
for me to find female opponents because
they all quitted. So starting from beginning
of 1998, I wrestled men. I wouldnt
stop to wrestle for such a stupid reason.
And also, I had really bad experiences
with women and in everything: bad matches,
bad injuries, hypocrites trying to put
me down, liars. One girl even told a
promoter that I showed my breasts (like
I have any) to her 500 pounds husband.
That way, I wouldnt get booked
again on the same shows she was performing
on. Nobody believed her because there
was many people around us at the time
she said that this situation had happen
but that was enough for me. This was
one too many bullshit. Im not
saying that I will never a woman again
but one thing is for sure, hell, Im
going to choose my opponent carefully.
I dont trust anybody.
What are your thoughts on the sexuality
involved with women in some wrestling
promotions? Do you think the promotions
are focusing too much on women as sex
symbols rather than on women as wrestlers?
***Today, girls are not hired for their
talent thats for sure. Its
all about T&A. If the girls are
ok with that, good for them but as for
myself, I can get really frustrated
of a promoter doesnt want me do
to lets say a move or hardcore
or wrestling itself but only show my
body. That doesnt work with me.
I worked too damn hard to become a wrestler.
Sex sells and I know that so Im
trying to balance the whole thing by
being sexy but wrestle properly.
Do you have any other thoughts on womens
wrestling in general?
***In America, its really a sad
situation and I think that in general,
it sucks. But in Japan and Mexico, its
great.
If you were to be hired by WWE right
now, and they allowed you to come up
with your entire character/gimmick on
your own, what would it be?
***I would definitely change my name,
I hate it
But Im stocked
with it; everybody knows me that way!
J I hope I could keep my hardcore side
too.
Do you prefer playing a heel or a face?
Why?
***I like both but even when Im
heel, people cheer for me
So I
can forget about it! J
Which Canadian wrestler do you think
has had the biggest impact on international
wrestling?
***Bret Hart is the one that helped
wrestling in Canada according to me.
Some people think that Tough Enough
is the easy way to get to
the WWE. What are your thoughts on this?
***Of course its unreal. These
kids dont go through to hell,
sleeping in their car, having no money,
no food, being screwed by lousy promoters.
Tough Enough is really a joke. I learned
on the cement floor, not on a big fluffy
cushion!
It has been said that you are one of
the hardest-working wrestlers on the
Canadian independent scene right now.
Do you think this is true? Why or why
not?
***Ive been through so much BS
because Im a woman who wants to
make a difference and be something else
that what the fans are used to see.
Im still wondering why Im
still here and did not quit. There was
a lot more tears than smiles since I
became a wrestler so after all that,
I believe that yes, Im a hard-working
wrestler but especially a person that
doesnt want to lose.
What kind of workout do you do?
***Body building and 45 minutes of
cardiovascular work at least 4 times
a week.
Do you have a strict diet to help your
fitness?
***High protein, low carbohydrates.
If you had one wish, what would it be?
***Right now, I wish I could travel
around the world; mostly to Mexico and
Japan.
What are your short-term and long-term
goals for wrestling and life in general?
***I just want to be happy with what
Im doing. A short-term goal is
to have great matches every time I step
in the ring. On a long-term process,
I wish that wrestling could pay my bills.
Do you have anything that you would
like to say to the fans?
***You aint see nothing yet.
Pain is my pleasure and there are no
limits. Ill always go a bit more
further! J
