An Open Letter from the Editors |
You've all read our disclaimers, or at least we hope you have, and we still can't stress enough that what we write are only stories. The characters in the stories are just that, characters. Neither of us know any of the members of any group mentioned, so we have no way of knowing what they are truly like. We've just invented people with whom we hoped our readers could identify. We both consider ourselves, not fans, but admirers of the people on whose lives our stories are based. We usually mention *NSYNC in our disclaimers because most of our stories feature them, but the same is true about any other group out there. Each of their members are real people and deserving of both their privacy and personal happiness. We both wish all of them that, and hope that you'll join us in the sentiments. So often we hear so called fans talking about a member's significant other in a derogatory manner. We just can't understand how someone can claim to love a person, and then wish them pain. After Chris and Dani's break up, Chris' mom was quoted as saying that at least part of the cause was that Dani was the subject of threatening web sites and other malicious endeavors. Sadly, this has not only happened to her, but to many of the guy's girlfriends. One need only look at Chris' face to see how much pain he was suffering. Both of us are saddened by their troubles, and we send our best wishes to them and hope they will both have a bright future no matter the outcome of their relationship. Mirage would also like to reiterate the fact that Chris' former girlfriend mentioned in 'What a Night' is not Dani. 'What a Night' was written well in advance of even a rumor of their separation. Although Phantom's story suggests that Justin may be gay, and that his relationship with Britney is merely a ruse to cover that fact, that was simply plot. We are ecstatic that the two finally feel comfortable enough to bring their feelings into the light of day. Why should we tolerate such a sad world that would force them, or anyone, to hide their love in the first place? Love is something to be cherished and never taken for granted. Most of the young men in these groups are finally in loving relationships, some have even gotten married and/or had children, and we'd like to take a moment to express our joy that they have found the happiness that they so richly deserve. We would also like to say that we pray that should any member of any of the groups happen to be gay, and someday find the courage to reveal the fact publicly, that his fans would be just as supportive after his announcement as they have been in the past. You love an entire person, not just the parts of them which fit into your own mold. Now, to any group members
who on the off chance might stop in to visit this site, we would hope that
you realize that all of the stories are completely fictitious ... obviously,
since you know first hand that they're not true. We do respect you
guys and all that you do, and again we're not just talking about *NSYNC,
they're just the ones who happen to be in the stories thus far. While
we're on the subject, should anyone with a character appearing in one of
our stories find them objectionable, you need only tell us and we'll be
more than happy to work with you -- we're people not paparazzi. A
personal message would be preferable to a formal letter from some law firm,
however, we're all grown ups and we' don't bite. Just a thought though!
Actually a personal note from you, if you like the story would be even
more appreciated.
